Too close to the end. NQT ends with 15 posts left for the day.

I don't know if this is right.

I can make a case for any of NQT, NJW, EP actually being maf.

This... I dunno how bad this is.

NJW and EP if you both are maf you deserve quite a handshake.

As does the mod brave enough to make a game this rich and deep, where town could get down to 2/3.

Maybe it's simple.
Maybe what feels wrong is wrong.

That's what scares me.  Quite a few things feel wrong.

NQT.

Vote Count - Day Five End
notquitethere (3) - NJW2000, Elephant Parade, Imp
NJW2000 (1) - notquitethere

Not Voting (1) - CrystalizedMire, Imp

With 5 votes in play, 3 are required to lynch or to no-lynch.

Day ended at 19:00:00 UTC on February 6.

---

Everyone sits down to play another two-player game. It's been almost a week and beggars can't be choosers, after all.

Alright notquitethere, can you please explain how to play Reversi?

"It's easy. You place your pieces like so, and then if your opponent has a number of pieces in a line, you can place your own pieces on opposite ends of that line to flip them to your colour, like this."

notquitethere flips the pieces, but something is wrong. The black pieces he's trying to flip are black on both sides, instead of just on one side.

Oh my, it appears that someone has painted your pieces to prevent them from being flipped. But we can still play - instead of flipping the pieces we could replace them with the opposite colour...

"No! You fool, how can we play Reversi if the pieces don't reverse? What would you even call such a game, 'Othello'? Don't be stupid."

Spoiler: notquitethere's Flip (click to show/hide)

I guess we won't be playing Reversi tonight. Well everyone, get some rest. Tomorrow's the last day of the meet, I'm certain we'll be able to play something.

Night ends in about 24 hours, at 19:00:00 UTC on February 7.

It's the sixth day, the week-long summit is nearly done. You walk into the main hall one last time, hoping to get at least one board game in before your departure. Magma Mater once again stands before a table, waiting to greet you.

Hey everyone! Today I've set up a very special game, the only one here that I haven't played some variant of before. I'm pretty excited to try it, so let's jump right in!

On the table is... nothing.

This game is called Jamestown. You win by amassing Victory Points, seems simple, right? Well, you couldn't be more wrong about that, my friends. The game starts with thirty-two auction rounds...

Magma Mater holds up some game pieces which seem to be invisible to everyone but himself. Crystalizedmire addresses the group while Magma Mater continues to explain the fictional game.

"I'm sorry everyone, this is my fault. I forgot to bring a board game. when he asked me what I'd brought, I made one up."

Crystalizedmire turns to Magma Mater. With a sly look on her face, she interrupts him flipping through an imaginary rulebook.

"Hey Magma, I'm sorry to say that the cheaters have foiled us yet again. They stole my game entirely, so we'll just have to -"

Before she can finish, Magma Mater releases a feral scream and body-slams the table, snapping it in half.

"Yeah, that."

Spoiler: Crystalizedmire's Flip (click to show/hide)

"Let's at least find the last cheater before we head home."

My results I can share come from duelist channel as far as I can tell; I was told at start of day that NJW is mafia.

I'm aware that Elephant made sure to tell us pretzels is potentially in play.  I know that pretzels is

Pretzels (Active, 1-shot, Shared)
Who brought these dry, nasty things? I'm ready to point fingers!
Target another player. Abilities revealing their Faction will return the opposite result this night.

So, theoretically it can be used on town NJW to make him appear maf; either NJW is maf or he was pretzeled.

I want to ask if either of you got a message last night that you may or may not have been expecting; if so, if you would paraphrase the contents I would appreciate it.

Other than that.  I currently have nothing to report.

Because of... some unusual things about this game.  I'd like to ask my fellow townsperson to do the very unusual step of allowing me to literally go to the end of the game without claiming anything at all about my own mech, past what I have and what I willingly provide today, if any.  This is weird; it's a weird game.  There are better lies if I were not town, and no better truth as town.

Elephant, you speak of it feeling good to be conftown.  Would you explain?  I presume you mean for yourself.  Did I miss something?  Like how/why you are conf town?

I know I'm not scum. I know one of you two is scum and the other is town who was just informed that the other is scum. I know you two know that if I were scum with the other we would simply quickhammer the townie and win (or rather, you would have been endgamed this morning). Ergo, from anyone's perspective, I'm conftown.

But that was assuming the Duelist result occurred immediately upon NQT's death, rather than at the end of the night, which yes may introduce the possibility of interference.

I'll claim later.

@Magma Mater: Is Duelist's faction reveal affected by abilities which distort faction reveal results? When Duelist's faction reveal is triggered by a lynch, is it considered to happen 'that day' or 'the following night' for the purposes of result-distorting abilities?

No. If you have a post restriction then say so.

Duel (Genre)
It's time to duel. Mono a mono. Head to head. Just have to get rid of that third wheel first.
You are in a neighborhood with the other players who share this ability. If there are only two players with this ability at the end of any night, they will each learn the Faction of the other player. Join the neighborhood by clicking here. You may speak in this server during the night (starting with night 1).

You're right, I missed that. That's unfortunate.

@Magma Mater: To confirm, would Pretzels affect Duel's result?

Mech is weird.  I was so scared and confused I actually asked Mater last night... well.  I guess asked isn't...

I was told because of questions I asked about my mech/statements I made about it.

That there were not 2 maf in play last night.  Of all the things I fear.  2 maf is finally no longer it.  There also cannot be 2 maf in play today.  Because there are no alignment swaps, something else I checked on.

NJW came online at 11:07 and didn't post. Inactivity is possible but I suspect he wanted to wait before deciding which of us to aim for a mislynch on, since he has to commit immediately—either he claims your alignment was stated to be Town and eliminates any possibility of me voting you, or he claims it was stated to be Scum and eliminates any possibility of you voting me.

I was on and off a bit.  I actually got almost physically sick like vomiting about 5 minutes to end of day.  I threw him a good luck end of night message in duelist and went to the bathroom.  Came back still feeling sick some minutes after, checked my night results.  Saw that he is maf.  Checked the thread, saw that Crystal was town and that we have our 4 votes, mine blue again.

And went away to see if I could recover or what.  I'm better now, I think that was biological and minimally game related, I rarely have that kinda trouble, but sure did then.  It passed like normal though.

I know NJW has issues with time and presence.

or he claims it was stated to be Scum and eliminates any possibility of you voting me.

Well.  I'm hecka confused.

It's not impossible to me that you have mech that could make pretzels affect us both, or have some second mech that could make the other of us read maf.

I know I'm town, I just don't -know- that you are.

And you seem to be pretty eager to say how we have to vote and why.

I have questions not yet answered.

NJW, I'd ask you not to quickhammer me and let's discuss.

But my pretty blue can't work on me.  I have to ask.

But I won't quickhammer NJW.

I happen to be town and it matters to me the heck is going on.

This game isn't simple.  I hope you both understand that.

If NJW offers you the quickhammer on me, Elephant.  I ask you to hold your mind and consider if that might be terrible to take.

NJW.... I hope you consider that a quickhammer on me would be terrible to offer.

Me.  I have to make my best possible call.

And only I can do that.

Nobody tells me how to vote.

I don't intend to quickhammer anyone. Beyond that I'm going to keep quiet about my opinions until NJW says which result he got.

Pfp

I got the duelist inspect result, and no other message. Imp duelist-inspected as town, as expected.

During the night, I attempted to stop EP targeting Imp, but I don’t know if it worked. Not surprised that CM is town, slightly surprised they died. The play I expected from EP would have been to kill Imp, but I suppose they were worried about the protection/narrative ability Imp keeps hinting at.

Obviously, I’m not going to vote early just in case I let scum quickhammer. I’m not completely careless. Absence was due to being at an event, I was online for the flip but couldn’t post. Hope Imp’s health issues improve - doesn’t sound fun.

I see. Don’t want to let scum know your reads, in case it gives them an advantage. Your caution is admirable.

As is probably clear, I think EP is almost definitely scum. I’d say I’m about 95% on that.

Elephant, claim your night actions. And I suppose your reads, if you feel like it.
