Axe Cop: They are hiding around these volcanoes! We will have to hunt them down.
Here we see a device that allows PROGRESS to be SAVED, or to call Wexter to go back to Axe Cop Station. This could be used to visit the bunk beds for HP restores, or later to buy consumables at the CONVENIENCE STORE if the Good Guys run out of beverages and snacks.
These pieces of wood are nailed together and the part not stuck into the ground has writing on it.
I thought it was beer at first, which I do not like often. At age 5 I was stealing my dad and grandpa's forgotten open beers when they were out choppin' wood, though they used chainsaws for most of it. The splitting was axes though and I stole beer from my dad then too so it still makes sense to mention in this Let's Play. It's probably why I didn't do anything creative at that age.
Yes! It's a great present instead of what I said earlier! I don't need to know what type of soda it is or that it is actually 'pop'.
I read the sign and then used Axe Cop's Field Ability to split this rock. Then I remembered about the Let's Play and went back to read the sign again to screenshot it.
FLUTE COP: Yeah, I know how to use special moves. If I run out of energy my regular attacks help me to recharge!
AXE COP: Great, but we've talked enough. It's time to make the dinosaurs extinct again!
After this the Good Guys move forward to the Bad Guy Dinosaur which is completely different from Wexter who is not that at all.
This leads to the first view of something that is not Field, and is the game's first battle.
The commands do the following:
Attack - Uses the character's Power or Attack stat to do damage.
Charge - The Good Guy charges up for 2 turns, gaining MP on the second turn. It's possible they are also screaming while doing so though I don't know if this is required.
Moves - The special moves menu. It's what MP are used on.
Item - Consumables such as Soda that restores HP.
Axe Cop goes first (he has a higher agility score than Flute Cop) and I look at his Moves menu. The first is a self-buff that will increase his damage. Since he can do enough damage to one-shot mook tier enemies using this will be useful in situations where it lowers the number of attacks to clear out a bad guy to prevent incoming damage or abilities or in boss fights where the boss has a bigger hp pool.
This move has Axe Cop charge up for a couple rounds before attacking on the third for massive damage. He's stuck in charging so the other Good Guys might have to pour Soda on him as he skips his turns while charging for the attack. It might be his signature move too, because he says his catchphrase when he does it. I think it's for use after self-buffing and then hitting a boss with. For normal enemies it would be faster to use the normal attack since their hp pool isn't big enough to require this move.
I picked Enrage for Axe Cop so I could try more of them by doing damaging moves last.
Here are Flute Cop's special moves. The first lowers defenses. I think it's not so good, but it may be that these low level Bad Guys don't have enough Defense stat to make lowering it useful. It made a small difference with bosses, so maybe later Missions will have Bad Guys who have a tough Defense stat to make it useful.
This move is useful. It's crowd control for one Bad Guy per use. I use it on Bad Guys who have an annoying move or who hit harder, or if those are equal one who Axe Cop can't take out in one round with the other Good Guys' attacks.
NOTE: Make sure I am correct in remembering which dinosaurs are which after making this a focus of study in my youth
I pick Drop Guard for Flute Cop to lower the Bad Guy Dinosaur's Defense stat. As the Good Guys chose the target for their moves, I noticed the name of the Bad Guy Dinosaur was visible. His name on the lost List of All Bad Guys is Brontosaurus (which I am unsure of because he doesn't look like his alias Apatosaurus IIRC).
The dinosaur proves he is a Bad Guy by attacking first. While having a long neck is like a type weakness against Axe Cop's Team, the Good Guys still have very low agility. Brontosaurus does only 8 damage. It is not very effective...
Axe Cop goes next, having a higher Agility stat than Flute Cop. He uses Enrage to self-buff and increases his Power/Attack stat by +7. His base stat is 25, so doing the math in my head it's like between 1/3 and 1/4 increase at this level. I didn't check if it's a set value or percentage based, meaning if it's percentil based it would improve as Axe Cop increases their Attack stat through level-ups. I'll probably notice at some point at least a vague approximation of how it works, but it's not really necessary so far to think much about it.
Lastly, Flute Cop uses Drop Guard. I'm unclear if the numbers that show on his special moves are HP damage or some other indicator. It's not much damage compared to Axe cop if it applies that as well as the effect.
After this it appears I forgot to do the other moves, as I used the Attack commands on both Good Guys. Axe Cop is the larger damage number at 30; Flute Cop's attack is to bonk the Bad Guy with his flute, so it only does 14 damage. It is enough to finish off the Brontosaurus, however.
I think one of the Good Guys evaded the Bronosaurus's round 2 attack and that's why they only lost 8hp or one attack overall during a two round battle where the Bad Guy moves first. The animations are rapid enough that it's easy to miss things to screenshot. However it's good that it's fast otherwise so rounds don't involve as much waiting.

Looking around, Axe Cop Team finds another use for the Perfect Axe: chopping of wood!
I am not clear what all this wood was for. I think it was a quest item later, so it must regenerate somehow it case I did not figure it out, which is reasonable.
Here I learn that when two pieces or wood are nailed together and there is writing on part of it, it is necessary to face the written upon side of the piece that is not inserted into the ground.

Musical bear statues? Well, that's what that pink Twitchlypoot looking thing over there is.
The Good Guys make their way to the Musical Bear Statue.
Flute Cop uses his Field Ability for the first time!
This resulted in a bridge rising from the magma and/or lava.
After some exploring, the Good Guys find this. It's like a Slushie except instead of slowly killing the imbiber it instead brings them back from death (from dehydration? still not clear if Health or Hydration points) with a small amount of Hydration points. You can tell it must be a good flavor because it does that plus it hasn't melted inside this dinosaur volcano.
The Good Guys continue exploring the Field and find a pair of Brontosaurii. There is a counter in the corner that shows how many dinosaurs are left to behead. Each fight like this lowers it and the Bad Guys do not respawn here.
Axe Cop chops their heads off, stuffs them with bombs, and mounts them on a pike to scare the other Bad Guy dinosaurs. This will happen with every dinosaur the Good Guys encounter, except for Wexter who is not like that at all.
We will all ignore the cyclopean face on this platform because surely it means nothing.
The Good Guys find another device. I can't remember if I used the Bunk Beds here, but surely it was an uninteresting option. If not then the Soda were dropping from the Bad Guys aplenty to stay Hydration Pointed.
