Vakari

Leader Campbell shook his head. "Just means they decided to stick me with it." He sighed and heaved himself up a bit straighter in his chair. "You've been assigned to lead Team 1. You'll be under my direct command, and I've relinquished all other duties. You and your support staff are all I have to worry about. While the rest of our teams are ordered by convenience, Team 1 is our strongest, and that comes with all the pressure it sounds like. I'll be reporting directly to Captain Dai and First Elite Alettor, who are overseeing this project, and they'll be expecting results."

"Team 1 will be our first expedition beyond the defense of our borders since Operation Phoenix Thrust nineteen years ago. It will consist of yourself, Warrior Maur, Rank 2 Smith, Rank 2 Trout, and Rank 1 Dioren, as well as around thirty soldiers assigned to support you." He shifted a bit in his chair, a slight frown briefly creasing his lips. "However... The Council has strongly encouraged that we avoid taking such a huge risk with our best team, and that you instead be posted as the city's elite guard. Now I don't put much stock in civilian opinions, but when it comes to lives, I prefer not to risk them without confidence. So, my boy, I'm giving you an opportunity: Meet with your team and assess their capabilities. Determine whether or not you believe they can successfully execute your mission. If you aren't confident in their abilities, then I'll vouch for your decision, and you'll be posted as elite guards. It's all up to you, son."

...no point in denying it. This was pressure. A lot of it.

Vakari took a deep breath to steady himself, and released it slowly. What did he know about the team...

Warrior Meredith Maur had been at the cadet academy with him. Her power already had utility for getting a soldier into position without being intercepted, scouting forward, and other such things; potency wasn't in question. In terms of personality... she was certainly productive, and helpful, but she was rather forceful about that help. He still remembered the logistics management project; when he tried to explain some of the formulas and shortcuts to more easily calculate the equipment distribution for maximized combat effectiveness, she insisted that she was helping him with his teaching skills.
An effective soldier, but her mental state may need management.

He hadn't had as much interaction with the other three, at least not recently; it had been a few years since he'd been pulled out of the standard program.
Rank 2 Smith... ah, yes. 'Melissa'. Certainly a character, definitely loud. He didn't remember her being a bully, at least. In terms of power... high mobility, capable of striking opponents hard with the right setup. The main issue he could see would be ensuring accuracy and safety during attacks, and maybe maintaining discipline.
Rank 2 Trout had been occasional trouble in tutoring. He was not especially... no, just not cooperative or patient. The power to create potent adhesives... potentially useful as a utility power. Glue grenades and related dispersal methods could be used as effective traps, and the material itself might be workable as a field bandage. Cooperation and discipline would be the main issues.
And Rank 1 Dioren was... also loud and forceful, and very willing to challenge anybody who disagreed with her. Thankfully, she'd actually been interested in learning things, so he'd actually seen her at tutoring without somebody forcing her to go in. Her earth-tunneling abilities should be effective for accessing difficult-to-reach areas, and should make her an effective sapper if she could use it right.

Overall... well, Meredith would be happy to help, at least.

"...I'll need the most difficult wargame materials available. We'll need to be prepared for anything and everything if a new expedition is to take place."
The tone belies the words, and the steely glint is clear in Vakari's eyes. Team 1 not only needs to be prepared for anything, they will be prepared for anything.

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

Amara and Saif

"Not before, but I can have files put together for you." Leader Boss answered, standing. "You'll be meeting them right away, they're waiting for you to give them their orders."

She led the way downstairs to a pair of meeting rooms.

Vakari

Leader Campbell thought for a moment. "Alright, I'll make a few calls." he said, "They're down in meeting room 304, can you find your way there on your own?"

Team 1: Vakari, Meredith, Melissa, Tyline, Liana

Though they awaited briefing, most of Team 1 was astute enough to recognize that their new commanding officer, whoever that was to be, wanted to brief them personally.

Team 2: Amara, Dia, Saviri, Jordan, Elkar

On the other hand, the members of Team 2 were at a loss for why they'd all been gathered without first being informed of their assignments.

Team 3: Saif, Peppermint, Kaymor, Cordelia, Ren

And Team 3... Well, they'd already managed to get themselves into an argument when Cordelia decided she was tired of waiting, only to have her impromptu exit barred by Kaymore.

Liana

Liana was trying to be patient. This was finally her chance to go out and do something, even if she was the only Rank 1 here. But she was not a patient person by nature, so she paced, back and forth and back and forth across the room, working the nervous energy out of her legs. Team leader was probably getting a briefing or something, only reason they'd wait this long. Who knew how long that would take. Come on, come on already....

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Meredith's eyes followed Liana back and forth across the room. She was anxious to be doing something other than waiting, too, but she had too much decorum to advertise it like that. Instead, she sat in a chair, uniform pristine, nibbling on a bit of bread as she waited for the new team leader to arrive.

Cordelia

For the most part, Cordelia was an individual willing to wait. If she was given a good reason to. But after quite frankly too long of being forced to lounge back in a chair (read: roughly ten minutes), Cordelia had let out a massive groan, standing from her chair as she attempted to simply leave... Only to have to stop as tall, red haired girl stood in her path, their height causing Cordelia to tilt her head up quite a fair bit, as well as adjusting her hat so it wasn't in her way,

"Ah, excuse me, can you-" she says, her other hand making a brushing motion, "scoot? You're a bit in the way."

Kaymor

An unblinking pair of red eyes peer out from under the raised hood of her winter jacket as Kaymor eyes Cordelia. She throws back the hood and starts to speak rather languidly, "Yeah. You'll do. I was getting sleepy anyway..."

She starts slipping into a fighting stance as her sleepiness fades a little at the hopes of something to save her from boredom, "Fight me."

Tyline

Arms crossed, sitting in one of the chairs. Waiting for their commander in a random meeting room was annoying. What makes it more irritating is the girl pacing all around, spreading the anxiety to him as if he needed more of that.
"Hey." He gestures towards Liana. "Can you cut that out? It's getting distracting."

Cordelia

The much smaller Dracotine pauses for a bit, her hand hovering in place as she registers what Kaymor had just said, "Ah, haha, I'm afraid you're a bit mistaken friend. I'm not really a good fighter per say" she states, taking off her hat as she brushes the top of it off a bit, "However, I can tell for your certain that if you want a good fight, you need not look further than... Well, anyone else in the room" with that, Cordelia steps to the side, waving her hand as if presenting the rest of the room's occupants, "Why waste time on nothing when you can spend time on something, am I right? Honestly, I would say the blue haired one over there would be a better sport for you, right?"

Team 3 - Saif

"Or maybe that isn't the best idea, at least not right now." Saif said as he arrived and noticed what felt like a fight about to start. "Hello! I'm Warrior Saif Asghar, and I've been assigned as Team 3's leader. My element is metal." he greeted, figuring out that if the brewing argument as he arrived as any sign of things to come, he might really need those files.

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Saviri

It was too hot. Saviri was trying to wait patiently, but he always hated these mean orders that were 'wait without information, no you can't strip down to stop feeling overheated.' He tried to ignore the fact that his clothes were basically soaked with it in a vain attempt to cool down, even as he looks over the others in the room. He knows quite a few of them, in fact, and has already said hi and called them by name if so. He starts panting to try and cool down more, waiting for something to happen.

Team 3

Peppermint, having stayed far away from the argument, stood and saluted in response to Saif's entrance. "Rank 2 Shauln Corta, sir."

Cordelia

In practically an instant, Cordelia turns to Saif, a cheerful smile on her face, "Ah, hello sir! I was just about to go searching for you! Pleasure to make your acquaintance, again" she says, taking a deep bow, her hand still holding onto her hat, "Rank 1, Cordelia Campbell."

Kaymor

Each sentence from Cordelia serves only to make Kaymor even more excited as she starts to bounce from one foot to the other, eyes almost literally gleaming as she gets ready to throw a right jab directly at her throat and-

She catches herself just short of striking, their team leader's arrival smothering the hope in her, and walks back to her chair with a sharp click of the tongue. Throwing up her hood and burying herself inside of her jacket, she introduces herself, "Kaymor Alst. Rank One. Dropout."

Meredith

"Need something, Dioren? Maybe I can help." She took another bite of her bread, sounding rather eager to assist as usual.

Liana

Liana shot a flat look over to the one who'd complained over her pacing. Briefly considered pacing faster. Decided maybe not to be an ass about it. She plopped herself into the nearest chair, nearly hard enough to knock it over. "Not unless you can summon our new boss."
