Bio:
The past of Sebastian Aurel, second son of four, and scion of Lord Aloysius Aurel, landholder of Blackhold in Westphal, is shrouded in mystery, and nobody save possibly Richart knows the full facts. What is known to the world is the following.
Sebastian, from a young age, was the least martial of the four sons of Aloysius Aurel, being better fitted for scholarly pursuits rather than the martial inclinations of his siblings, though he was no slouch as a young man with swords. It is known that, while his younger siblings went off to become officers in the holds of other noblemen, Sebastian went to join the church, specifically studying to become a cleric under the Cult of Four. He entered the church's service as a young man, and served them for roughly a decade, serving at the temple at Westfall in the role of a priest. It is known that he also engaged in inquisitorial duties, investigating complaints within the church, and it is rumoured that Sebastian was being groomed to become potential Bishop of Westfall.
How his employment came to an end at the temple is known only to Richart, himself, and his superiors, but it is known that after fifteen years of service, Sebastian resigned his post at Westfall to become a wandering Cleric instead. He gained a reputation in his wanderings as a nosey, cheerful man, whose incessant questions about everything annoyed and intrigued others, and uncovering occasional schemes and crimes on his own, including some schemes of fraud or theft, who never once suspected a Cleric to uncover them. By sheer coincidence, one of those schemes was to steal from Richart's crew, and Sebastian quickly insinuated himself among them. By his own admission, he found Richart's band significantly more interesting than what he had been doing prior, and kept with them. Sebastian has since served loyally under Richart's crew, though his ever-curious nature and dissonant cheerfulness often confounds others but has served to uncover potential intrigue.
By personality, Sebastian is an oddity. Seemingly cheerful, Sebastian will often ask questions, even prodding ones, to satisfy his curiosity, and will go to lengths to find out truths about that which intrigues him. Through his long wanderings, Sebastian has become well acquainted with not just the beliefs of his own order, but the beliefs of other religions, which has led to occasional conflicts before he joined Richart with the followers of other faiths not being as inquisitive or open-minded as him. Often times, it is not clear if Sebatstian is a true believer, or pays lip-service to his supposed faith. Yet Sebastian will often do the right thing, in keeping with the Cult's code - it is the highest of pious acts to help those in need and to do good deeds, even if he would conceal such acts as doing that which amuses him.
