The first tools are constructed and they work fast! A shovel breaks the earth bringing new Mud to the Mud Pile, but the vigorous usage of the Palette Knife leads the pile to decrease in height. A flurry of bricks are made, and the Healing Hut gets built, in a remarkable act of co-operation for Gnomes that will likely go down in history.
Not much research is done today, but a couple of Gnomes do sit in the clearing and make some progress on the thinking arts.
An effort is made to heal the Worker. A pair of brand new goggles is created with great care, and placed gently on his head. After a while, he stops shaking. He is taken to the healing hut, where another Gnome attempts to heal him with the newly found herbs. A poultice made from them is applied, but the Wise Man shakes his head. He has an inkling that this particular affliction is no bacteria or disease...
The Worker Gnome is up and walking again, but he still refuses to work. He lies in the clearing and cloud watches, far from the woods or the Mud Pits, always with his goggles on. It seems he isn't mute anymore, and those who come near him can sometimes catch him muttering under his breath about a curse.
Nobody notices the Wise Man has gone into a coma. Luckily, this has no effect on the day to day running of the place, so everyone assumes he's just taking a really long nap.
