If it was an assign action the post would say “Assign wise man: Research X”

Hmm.. then why do we have a wise man?  Maybe we should get SCREE to clarify things…

You will need the think tank technology to get 'workers' who can research.

Multiple people can research in a turn. Originally in my planning it was a flat % a turn, but I think it's more fun to let people spend their action to research. We'll see if this breaks everything in 15 turns time, or something.

The wise man gives you access to research and informs you of things that might need attention.

If you get a second wise man for the first to squabble with, you will learn the immediate Unlocks a possible research gives, allowing you to plan ahead.

Oh man!  Imagines us making crude tools out of food, mud, and stone bricks. I bet we get taught how to recognize the value of a stick!

I'm pleasantly surprised that we built the mad science hut on our first try, but I propose we factionalize. Collective bargaining will be much less frustrating than industrialists, foragers, and mad scientists all trying to snipe resources for different purposes.

Well, I figure if other people want to be idiots then might as well help them get it over with so we can research the Healing Arts next turn!

This should be enough to unlock tools.

Turn 8
TURNTURNTURN

The Glory of thought! With the introduction of a Wise Man to the clearing, most people sat around all day thinking deeply. Beads of sweat dripped down Gnome's brows and off their long bulbous noses. Sounds of straining could be heard deep in the forest. One Gnome rejected modernity and discovered a way to store mud without a gatherer's hut: in even. bigger. piles. Genius!

In other news, a group of Gnomes gets together with the wise man to discuss how to become more efficient. Apparently, the forests the clearing is surrounded by can actually be useful?! The trees can somehow become... tools? And there's stuff hidden in the mud that can be used too???

Some mud and foraged food comes in from the FFF crew, though some of the food left outside begins to rot in the sun.

No one has seen the Worker for a while...

Resources:
     11 / 25 Food [+1, 1 lost to rot]
     10 / 15 Mud [+4, +0 from worker]
     0 / 10 Mud Bricks [+ 0]
     1 / 10 Putrefying Food (+1, inedible)
     0 / 3 Felled Tree

Workers:
1 / 1 Workers
    0x Layabout Laborer
    ? x Gatherer - Mud
    0x Forager - Food
    0x Crafter - Bricks
1 / 1 Wise Man

Buildings:
    1 x Mud Hut
    1 x Gatherer's Hut - Food (10 x Food protected from Rot)
1 x Wise Man's Hut (Access to Research)

Researched
Crude Tools (100%)
Big Mud Pile (100%)

Do one thing:
>[] Forage for Food
>[] Gather Mud (chance to get flint)
>[] Fell Tree

>[] Craft: Mud Brick (requires:1 Mud)

>[] Research: The Healing Arts [0/3]
>[] Research: Crude Weapons [0/10]
>[] Research: Woodworking [0/12]
>[] Research: Think Tank [0/4]

>[] Build Hut (requires: 5 Mud Bricks)
>[] Build Gatherer's Hut (requires: 5 Mud Bricks)
>[] Build Bigger Mud Pile (requires: 15 Mud)
>[] Build Wise Man's Hut - Research Skill trees, i.e., what researches unlocks what other immediate research (requires: 10 Mud Bricks)

>[] Assign Gatherer's Hut (Food / Mud / Bricks)
>[] Re-assign Gatherer's Hut (Food / Mud / Bricks)

>[]Assign Worker: Forage Food / Gathering Mud / Crafting Brick
>[]Re-assign Worker: Forage Food / Gathering Mud / Crafting Brick

Suspect and accuse the wise man of being the worker who just loafs around.

Also, gather mud!
