Little red eyes

Anyone else love the little red eyes that represent goblins in shadow? I think they're pretty awesome...

Speaking of goblins, is there a Dark Fortress capitol, and is there any real point in wiping out Dark Fortresses, except for xp?

I'm not sure if there's a point (too new to Adventure mode) but I think it'd be AWESOME if human/elf/dwarf towns and villages could be raided and seiged like fortresses are.  Can you imagine going to a town for a quest, being told to kill the local goblin leader, and then you blow it off.  A few in-game weeks later you return to the town to find the buildings burnt down and the villagers slaughtered.  Would make for some great motivation to kill off the local cave monsters instead of just killing some then leaving.

Dark Forts often have cash laying around.  Plus it's dramatic to infiltrate and destroy!

i just wish their eyes didnt glow when they are sleeping.  of course -- since they can parry, dodge, and counterstrike when they are sleeping -- glowing eyes probably arent all that illogical.

also, i like how gobs and kobs have different colored eyes.

The eyes are fun. It shows me where to throw my rocks!

One time i decided to throw a masterwork iron greatax down the corridor at a pair of glowing eyes. Cut an elite kobold in half  :D

I saw a glowing red ` amongst the glowing red "s.  When the goblin came into view, I discovered that the goblin had only one eye.

Now that is Beyond Quality!

Methinks I smell a liar here. In the raw files, there's a few tags dealing with glowing eyes, and the only tile it gives is a ". Doesn't say anything about one-eyed abnormalities.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Yeah the glowing eyes only call for a ", they can't interpret that into a ' if there's only one eye there.

Huh. That's odd; doesn't seem like something Toady would do. Too inflexible with non-vanilla tiles, a [GLOWTILE:"#"], for instance.

In any case, I apologize for doubting you, and respect you for refraining from following through with your threat.

Ugh, i hate it when the quote thing messes up like that. Fixed.

Also, that's wierd. Does it mean that a creature with 9 eyes and [GLOWTILE:"%"] would still give a ' if one eye is lost? Odd to have something like that hardcoded.

Nice title on the one-eye. Shame magic isn't out yet so it makes no sense.
