Fencing school, Skill books and other interesting ideas.
« on: June 15, 2024, 04:17:58 am »

this thread is for sugestion that I consider to be nice to have but not nececarly. ( unlike previos thread of mine about things that make you tear your haire off)

1. Fencing school: in essance it would be just a location where you store training weapons for your civilians to train and watch demonstration in theyre free time. (Have you ever have dwarves that "value peace" ore "values harmony" ore both but also "values martial prowess" and have a need to train. some people may want let they're dwarves to train in weapon handeling before they have a metal working industry or want to establish a military yet.Or you may not want to assingh more people to the military as you have enought military already and want to have civilans to work, well you dont need to keep track of the dwarves you put in the military just to satisfy that need but ultimatly will get juggled out of there. They could just go to a fancing school, that could have an instructor or not just like you can have taverns with no tavern keeper. It would also be something for military dwarves that dont want to do anything with the military anymore. Also it could also store non metalic armor but that might not be nececarly).
2. Skill books: how about having skill books and fictional books the former having the same effect as watching a demonstration and the latter can have the same effect it had before.( It would be fun if you could attack a library to a guild and that library would only have skill books related to that guild, it would also be nice if it where to assing people to that library they will still mantain theyre job and not become scholars ore scribes).
3. Forming a religion:( just a way of forming a new religion in your fortress, one idea of mine would be to assingh a library to a temple of a diety after with it was writen lets say 10 book you have the posibility to establish a new religion for that diety).
4. Market for civilians: it would be a building like the trading depo ore build into the trading depo where you transfer object to be sold to your civilians ( I admit that before deciding to implement this you have to decide how much you want to bother the player with satisfieng that need that dwarves have. Also how much dose the player care about micromanaging what dwarves get ownership of).
5. Diplomacy: establishing alliances and trade with other races by sending messangers to the a location of that civ. Also making a deal to build a road between 2 cities in the same way.
6. Restart the world gen when you want. ( who would not want to see what is the effect you had on the world, did your dragon fort end up conquering the world ore did the dragons end up devouaring everiting, is the serier of forts that you did to conquer an mountain region made the dwarven civ expand, did you succesfully revive a dwarven civ etc, etc).
