"Besides that. I do believe we can say with some confidence that there is indeed something within that box. he said more quietly, "Perhaps there is good to come from speaking to it."

"Least she's trying to talk to someone, Madoka. Besides, if there turns out to be, like, some giant demon in the box, it'll eat us last. Probably."

"Heh, you'd likely be too big to fit in its mouth anyway, Boss." Shinji laughs.

"Don't joke about being eaten! There wouldn't really be a giant demon in the box, would there?"

"No, I would win."

"Well, I imagine "crocodile Misaki" isn't exactly on the list of "favoured meals of Yurei"."
"But really? Ya've probably cut like ten million Yurei in half by now and what scares ya is the girl who likes talkin' to boxes? She's probably bored."

"Actually, I have a question regarding that.” Amsel asked, "What happens to a Yurei once you have cut it in half? Does it fade into ether, or leave some sort of corpse behind?"

Todoroki rubs the back of his head.
"Well, yeah, mostly. If you kick their asses, it usually makes them fade away or whatever."
"Um, actually, if you defeat them, it....quells their anger, unless they're a really angry Yurei. But....we haven't seen a Yurei like that for decades."

"I am not afraid." Madoka's voice is forceful, at least insofar as a teeny, naturally soft-spoken bunny girl who never spoke more than four words without intereuption could be. She folds her arms. "She's just strange."

"A benign presence would not be kept in such a condition, bound by such intricate bindings." Roland stepped down from the caravan, using his wooden pole as a walking aid.

"..." His gaze was centered upwards, taking into the slowly shifting sky as the sunset took place.

"Despite that, that box does not seem to be a troublesome matter."

"Hmm..." was the extent of Amsel's reply to Rin and Todoroki, though his voice betrayed slight notes of disappointment. He then turned to the box.


"Mr. Box, you are not a once-in-several-decades Yurei we'd need to have exorcised to properly put to rest, yes?" he said, "Apologies for the scrutiny, I simply feel it important to make sure Ms. Mizuno's friends are... well, I am not quite sure how to say it... 'straightforward' perhaps?"

If the box replies, it is in a way only Rin can understand. Rin giggles.
"Mister Box won't hurt you, Amsel. He's only a box, after all. He can't talk."
"See, Madoka? She knows boxes can't really talk."

"Somehow that's less comforting."

"Well, in any case..."
Rin walks over to the cargo-carrying wagon, rooting through its contents.
"If anyone wants to help me make dinner, I'll make some. Plus an extra portion for Msiter Box."

"....riiight. If he doesn't have it, can I?"
"Of course, Mister Todoroki!"
"Well, in that case....I could go for a spar! Anyone down?"
"If you get injured, I'm not patching you up. So be careful."
