Adventure Mode Challenge - Heroes & Villains .47

Heroes and Villains
This is a game to test players abilities to come up with difficult designs and challenges and other players abilities to overcome those! In this game you start your turn hunting the last player's character. Once you have succeeded, or failed, you spend the rest of your turn getting ready for the next player who is coming after you!

Rules of the Game:

The first player has one week to build a character, or group of characters, and set them up for the next player.

The next player's job is to kill that character(s).

If the player succeeds at killing them they spend the rest of the turn setting up for the next player.

The next player aims to kill the previous player's character(s) and so on

If you fail to kill the previous character you still need to set up a character for future players to hunt. This would hopefully lead to a map full of "boss encounters" for each player to choose freely which target they'd like.

Additional ideas for fun challenge:
1. When you finish your turn you set conditions for the players who are hunting you. For example:

"I built a dark tower filled with undead who hate all life. Whoever attacks me must be a living being" This would be so that all the effort you put into setting up your traps and defenses stays relevant

another example could be "My character is hiding amongst civilization. You must not be seen killing him" to set up an assassination style event.

Only caveat of the conditions is that you need to make sure it is possible to actually win under those conditions.

Turn List so far:

Dikbutdagrate (Current)
Wolfkey
Brewerbob
Eric Blank
Luckyowl
Quantum Drop
Kesperan
Maloy
Crystalizedmire

What do we think? Sound fun? I know we got some really clever minds here about setting up death traps!
I'd want to set up a world stuffed with secrets, syndromes, clouds, etc that could lead to the largest possible variety of player setups

Okay I can start playing around with world gen on this.

Steam adventure mode turned out to be missing a lot of previous features like base building so it sounds like this would need to be a .47 game

How many days should turns be? 10? That gives you a fair amount of time to hunt your target and then build your own spot up

Yeah, it'll take some time for the missing features to be in the Steam release.

Ten days sounds good to me.

love this idea, especially the potential for character writing. though, I completely lack patience for adventure mode, so I'll just watch from the sidelines

I gave up on doing this after the first week of posting with no interest shown so the sudden pick up in interest was wild for me lol

I'll join as well. How many skill points are we starting with?

I'm open for suggestions, but I am thinking.

Demigod - Can only have one player character at creation
Hero - Can have three characters at creation (Gotta have that classic Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn trio)
Peasant - Can have up to 10

For animal people sizes 200k+ no demigods. One hero or three peasants
https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/List_of_creatures_by_adult_size

Anybody can sit around and grind combat exp on a defenseless animal. It is just incredibly tedious and boring so limitations should just be there to prevent brutal exploits to overwhelm your target. Do you really wanna sit there for like 20 hours and train 10 peasants into legendary warriors?

I've got two potential worlds to present. I tried to hit that sweet spot of world gen for maximum amount of necromancer secrets, world ending threats, but civilizations still in their prime and with good pops for some cities to use.

I went for medium world because if this stays popular it won't take us long to quickly rough up this entire planet lol, but if you guys think we should go smaller just let me know.

Yes that big brown blotch on the right is an entire cursed ocean. We are locked into a land with our only escape being sea monster infested waters! Those yellow mountains are also cursed.

This world has slightly less good and evil biomes as the other one, but it still has more than average.

Since the game is heroes versus villains I thought the lands should reflect it.

Hard to choose between those two maps.

The geography of the second map looks more pleasing and the civs look a bit more spread out, so maybe I'd go for that one?

No real opinion on the amount of skill points or number of characters.

What's our take on DFHack use?

Are we allowed to use gui/advfort in base building? Or spawning construction material (e.g. blocks or logs) to speed up said base building? Or giving animal people a deity to worship during character generation? Giving preferences to characters? (So, basically stuff that doesn't really have impact on the skills/power level of characters and should be safe to use.)

I think that use of dfhack is fine.

In my opinion the only area it should be forbidden is using it when hunting your target.
