Almond Milk
« on: January 12, 2024, 08:02:28 pm »

Almond Milk was invented during the Middle Ages as a plant-based milk subsititute.  They can be eaten already but it would be cool if they could be turned into "milk".

Oh, interesting!  Now, would it be better to make it at a quern/millstone, or in a kitchen?

Could be both? First milling, then processing it at a kitchen. Wouldn't be that much different than making oil from rock nuts or olives except that the second part is done in a kitchen.

It'd be nice to see drinkable liquids that aren't water or characterized by all the various baggages of DRINK items (units seek it out preferentially, satisfies "drink alcohol" need)
On a tangent, the material token [CHEESE_PLANT] was recently deprecated.

Plant milks date back pretty far historically, evidence of coconut milk goes back to 3000-1500BC, Soy milk 0-300AD, almond milk 700-1200AD. I'd include these as well other nuts which can be milk-ified with the same techniques, like cashew.
