Some towns severely overpopulated?
« on: October 31, 2007, 07:20:00 pm »

This is the second time I've stumped upon this, might be a migrant group? Tens of dwarves, maybe well over hundred, in a human town. I'm surprised that they can support that many. Couldn't get a clear screenshot of it, but...

All the other towns seem to be underpopulated, though, with only ~one recruitable party member.

I've noticed this too.  Elves in human towns.  I don't know if I like it if it's going to be a common thing.

Maybe they're the precursors to armies rampaging across the land.  I know I'd like that, if for no other reason than to try and reenact 300 on a smaller scale.  :D

I started a fortress on top of a bunch of goblin towers, and was surprised to find a human swordsmaster standing around outside one of them.

He had a goblin name, too.

Yeah, migrant groups will stop off at a site for a week or so before deciding if they want to stay permanently.  I don't remember, but I don't think dwarves/elves will ever decide to stay permanently in a human town, but they'll stay a week.  In my previous testing, you can actually wait around and catch the precise moment when they leave, but I'm not sure if that still works.  I'll spend more time polishing that behavior when I get to armies.

The human with the goblins is intentional.  I think some people on SA said it was a bug I decided to keep, but in this case it was intentional from the beginning.  Just wanted to mix things up a bit.  As the histories become further specified, things like that will make more sense.
