The conquest of Xue went smoothly thanks to the leadership of Xi Rong and Xu Tong, but when they came to Lord of Wu to receive their rewards, they both refused to accept them. "Another man's cunning and daring is behind our victory." Claimed Xi Rong. "He helped devise our tactics and launched a raid with only 100 cavalry." Explained Xu Tong. And so was Lord of Wu awestruck with the prowess of the unknown man, that he ordered Xi Rong and Xu Tong to bring him in. That young, cunning man was named Liu Shao, a minor cavalry lieutenant, and once he came before Lord of Wu, Liu Shao was swiftly promoted to the rank of General.

Anxious for news about the northernly expedition, Lord of Wu was apalled when only one man returned, and was ready to execute the coward. But this lone man knelt in front of his Lord, providing him with the insignia and banners of the fallen Generals. That lone man was Li Zhuo. "How did thou survive?" And so Li Zhuo recalled how he took a swift horse upon command of dying Xi Rong, and grabbed the banner from hands of greatly wounded Xu Tong, and navigated between groups of enemy soldiers, avoiding thrown spears and shot arrows at him, stealing a boat and avoiding pursuit on the Great River until he reached the familiar shores. "All this to fulfill the orders of my fallen superiors." Said Li Zhuo, and so was Lord of Wu touched by the devotion to duty, that he made Li Zhuo a General.
