I have no idea what a MD-5 hash does, nor why I would want to use one.

You can also just send your bid to the GM for safe keeping and then tell us what it is after everyone else has revealed their bid.

The MD5 message-digest algorithm is a widely used hash function producing a 128-bit hash value. You can apply it to your message, in this case a bid, and publish it beforehand to later prove that you had a specific message in mind without revealing what that message is. Once you publish the message itself, one has but to compute the hash again to verify that the message is indeed genuine. Note that due to 'strong collision resistance' of the hash it is incredibly hard to find 2 messages that correspond to the same hash, let alone ones that look like valid bids.

These Vikings swear to the undertaking of the raid of Mercy City.

Special loot will be auctioned off using a Vickrey Auction among champions for notional money, which will be added to monetary loot. Champions will then receive a portion of the monetary loot equal to the proportion of their shares. If at the end of the turn a champion is unable to settle with the loot pile (e.g.: because they overbid on special loot) they are denied any loot, beyond upkeep, and the auction happens again next turn without them. Any remainder credits that can't be evenly divided are given to the raid leader.

Far as I'm concerned, Ymir and Mercy City's Invaders can either do it themselves, or offer some bonus. Equal results from equal contributions favors the rich.
I can't even upgrade beyond Viking Gangs at this point, and they're not quite good enough to take on a Refinery or other resource target.
