The other option is one of the leading votes to switch to second place. Or for a one of the other votes to switch to and affirm first place. I'm pretty much voting for the best of the remaining Cool options given everything else fell apart.

Also, you never adressed my retort of those two designs not mentioning cordite derived powder, so Silverscale still has that going for it.

Jesus can we just get on with the damn vote already. This is a farce of an argument. And yes I addressed your retort by adding it to the design I just didn't feel like telling you.

Yeah I don't care what wins if it means closing the vote.

No, no, he's got a point

Ties are necessary to challenge the frontrunner design and put forwards new options, and yes, Maxim and Thanos could have voted the Gryf at any time, so.

Anyways, what're we going to do with our revision? I see three real options on this first turn.

A: Improve or add functionality to the rifle. Things like a scope, or burst fire, or exploding bullets.
B: Fix bugs or reduce cost. Probably highest priority, if that turns out to be necessary.
C: Only if it turns out to be legal: revise civilian equipment. Previous games have allowed revisions to be used to convert civilian equipment to military equipment, creating low-quality or simple designs. Maybe Paperman won't allow it, but if he does, we could make an entrenching tool out of a shovel, or make uniforms for our soldiers.

Clearly in this age of maneuver warfare, our revision should be to secure a supply of horses to form dragoon and cavalry divisions, as well as for logistical operations.

Sadly, our side is mountains, theirs is forests. Clearly, what we need is rope. Lots and lots of rope. Or at least a solid pair of boots.

A: Exploding bullets, or maybe rifle grenades, seem the most likely though MoP has yet to respond on the war crimes question. It should be obvious why burst fire isn't a good option.
B: Most likely result.
C: All of those feel like a design. A carbine version of the rifle is more likely though isn't easy to do.

Preliminary Turn 1 Design Phase - Spring 1912

Proposal: Gryf's Szybki Rifle
Difficulty: Normal
Result: 4+2=6, Average

In order to remain at a minimum of equivalence to the hostile north, the King offered a reward to the company who could bring forward a suitable weapon to outfit the average rifleman with. A number of duds were pushed through testing, some old classics tried out, and some borderline insane machines fired, but ultimately it was Gryf's Szybki Rifle that was deemed suitable for the Royal Army.

The weapon wasn't beautiful or impressive, but it wasn't rough on the eyes either. In short, it looked like a typical 105cm long, 3.3kg rifle made of wood and metal.

The rifle utilizes captured gas in order to cycle rounds into the chamber after firing, resulting in a relatively reliably self-loading weapon. The Szybki carries ten 9.5x35mmR smokeless rounds in a side-fed tube magazine running along the underside of the barrel, with another round held in the chamber. While they don't necessarily pack as much of a punch as other weapons in a similar role, slightly less kick makes these perfectly kill-capable bullets slightly easier to cluster accurately at the slight cost of range. The rear tangent sight reflects this, with the rifle's 600m effective range matching the cap for the sight's ranging. The semiautomatic nature of the Szybki was a fantastic selling point, but the weapon's ability to easily swap to manual bolt action if necessary was a nice bonus. In addition to being able to rapidly send shots downrange, the Szybki can maim and kill up close and personal with a 50cm bayonet that can be fixed to a lug at the end of the rifle.

As Gryf's Szybki Rifle is intended to be the standard issue rifle among the Army and construction costs and complexity are relatively normal, it is considered Cheap.

----------------

It is now the Revision Phase. You can use Revisions to modify, improve, upgrade, sidegrade, downgrade, or otherwise fiddle with equipment in your Armory. This currently means the rifle and anything else mentioned in it's Armory entry (bullets, bayonet).

Yeah, that's workable.

There's no horrendous issues that would require a bugfix Revision, so we're onto adding features and such.

Scope for better aiming? The aforementioned exploding bullets?

Lighter-weight materials to make it easier to carry? Modular parts for easier maintenance and improved future designs?

Bullets with wings that let them fly further?

Okay so, I think the GSR getting a +2 in terms of its roll difficulty and the mentions of what the Royal Army testers thoughts of the other submissions gives a good baseline to judge further testing of designs on. I'm of the opinion that the others would have gotten a +0 to a -2 depending on which specific design it was but that's for the GM to disclose at his discretion if he desires.

So in terms of updates to the rifle I'm thinking improving the bullets to be spitzer pointed bullets to increase range and accuracy without having to increase powder load reducing the already good accuracy from its comparably good kick. Maybe exploding bullets but I'm still waiting on MoP to comment on the rules of war in this universe.

We can upgrade the magazine but there's no easy way to do it without either ripping out the whole thing or drastically adding to the design.

Option A: We rip out the whole magazine and add a more traditional one for a sub-variant of the main rifle, probably a carbine since I'd rather not increase the cost drastically across the board from the nice Cheap its at now. So a detachable magazine or something similar, the thing is the 10+1 capacity is already quite high but is slow to load, so on the assault having even a 5-10 shot detachable mag might be more expensive but is easier to deal with, though I imagine a detachable version to be more expensive or complex with a fixed version being simpler and pretty much a good way to round off the design.

Option B: A drastic reconstruction of the rifle increasing the magazine capacity by adding a drum to the end of the tube with an articulated follower allowing it to feed rotationally in the drum and then laterally in the tube. This would increase the capacity by 5 to 15 shots depending on how large we want to get considering this will be adding a large weight onto the end of the rifle. This will definitely be a more specialist weapon considering it will increase the weight and no doubt the cost.
