Fiiiine. It's pretty stupid that we're voting three times on the same gun, just with arguments about what to name it. But it's also very in-character.

A good naming scheme is important. Almost as important as sunglasses.

The ch is pronounced like it is in Dutch (ie the guttural g sound), I can tell you that much. I'm guessing the u in bun is long, also. Other than that, I dunno. But does it really matter? It's a text-based game, you can pronounce it however you want, nobody will judge.

Preliminary Turn 1 Design Phase - Spring 1912

Proposal: NSA-SR-12-3-5, ADM Index: 5N1 "Bunaiteach"
Difficulty: Very Easy
Result: (4+2)+2=8, Average

Once the Military Procurement Funding Subcommittee of the Main Subcouncil of Artillery and Munitions approved of a budget for the Military Arms Procurement (Rifles) Division's Networking Outreach and Contract Assessment Program, a hoard of arms developers and producers obtained and filed out the appropriate forms required to receive an application for a preliminary review of their rifles and production capacity. Out of all the assessed applicants who passed their mandatory inspections and interviews, only one received the honor of being documented and marked for mass production. Known as the NSA-SR-12-3-5, ADM Index: 5N1 "Bunaiteach" or Bunaiteach for much shorter, this rifle managed to appeal to every oversight committee and funding board involved.

The Bunaiteach is a 110cm long, 3.8kg straight-pull bolt action rifle constructed of lightly stained white beech and blued steel. The nearly flush six-round detachable magazine feeds the firearm with 7.5x55mm copper jacketed spitzer cartridges, and the operator can reload the magazine using six-round charging clips or individual bullets. A tangent sight marked every 100m out to 1000m and with a 50m resting position provides adequate aid in acquiring and firing on targets out to the weapon's 800m effective range and beyond. A cleaning kit is provided for basic field maintenance, although the weapon is fairly reliable even in less than ideal conditions.

In addition to the cleaning kit, each Bunaiteach comes with a 600mm long sword bayonet. The double-edged straight blade is 450mm long and has a nifty belt sheathe for easy storage and access. It manages to hold up well while both chopping and thrusting.

As the, let me check my notes here, NSA-SR-12-3-5, ADM Index: 5N1 "Bunaiteach" is intended to be the standard issue rifle among the Army and construction costs and complexity are relatively normal, it is considered Cheap.

----------------

It is now the Revision Phase. You can use Revisions to modify, improve, upgrade, sidegrade, downgrade, or otherwise fiddle with equipment in your Armory. This currently means the rifle and anything else mentioned in it's Armory entry (bullets, "bayonet", cleaning kit?).

Not fucking bad for an average. The fact that the extra kit is explicitly noted as revisable feels like a solid bonus since so much was specified, but I’m not sure what could best use the revision. Maybe a better scope or a marksman variant of the rifle (so a bad revision doesn’t fuck our service rifle) with more range?

A sniper variant sounds pretty cool, but a semi-automatic version would be the obvious thing to do.

edit: the more I think about it, the more I like the sniper rifle idea. It feels good because it fills a different niche.

So, you'd remove the bayonet, add a scope.. longer barrel, I guess? Add a standard, maybe larger sized bullets?
