Mititary not attacking a flaming angel
« on: September 28, 2023, 06:24:36 am »

I was digging around through the mysterious wall and uncovered some divine retribution, a monter composed of flames. I remember these as being quite flimsy but apparently my soldiers refuse to attack it at all. This sort of makes sense, I wouldn't want to either. But I don't remember this being a thing before. Is this new? Do I misremember? Is it related to angels rather than the fire? Or is it a bug?

I any case it feels quite janky, the dwarves just stand around, taking hits from the angel's divine scourge without even blocking or dodging, the combat log is completely one sided.

It's the fire. Dwarves won't/can't path through flames, and whatever is burning between the dwarves and the angel is blocking the path. Either wait for it to burn the surroundings enough, or get an.archer to take it out.

Marksdwarves are buggy as hell. Trap it in an area using a random stray animal as bait and drawbridges to block it in. You can then either kill it with a cave-in or turn the place it's trapped in into your own rancor pit.

If you're so sure that you're gonna end up killing all of dwarven civilization, why not make a statue depicting 2147483647 dead dwarves, all of which are burning? Name it something good, like Deaddead the Dead Dead Dead-Dead of Dying. Just put it in the main hall or something, as a grim reminder that they're all gonna die.
