Is it because of a game limitation that we're not able to go back to the main menu after a world finishes generating?
Here are two images below showing the difference between mid-gen and post-gen.

The "Back to Main Menu" that we usually see during world gen quickly disappears after the world finishes generating, and then it becomes too late to click on it. Small worlds generate so fast that it doesn't give enough time to analyze the world and click "back" if it's not to our liking, and it ends up forcing us to save the world that we don't want.

My guess as to why the "Back to main menu" button disappears from the post-gen window is to prevent people from accidentally clicking on it after it's been generated, but that might have been for a time when worlds used to take much longer to generate.

From someone that always loves creating worlds, I would really love the addition of that "Back to Main Menu" (and potentially a "Retry world-gen") button in the post-world gen window to easily discard worlds or to retry the world gen instead of forcing the game to save an unwanted world.

There used to be an “abort” option in the pre-steam versions that acted as this, but it’s not here for some reason.

If you're so sure that you're gonna end up killing all of dwarven civilization, why not make a statue depicting 2147483647 dead dwarves, all of which are burning? Name it something good, like Deaddead the Dead Dead Dead-Dead of Dying. Just put it in the main hall or something, as a grim reminder that they're all gonna die.
