As it had happened before, it happened again. In an instant creation was gone.
The Eternally Prosperous Dragon Land of Gempria.
The thriving and advanced people of Mana.
The wonders and horrors of the Sky-Veil.
All that remained was the Void Sea, once forgotten and now the only remaining anchor of the World for the few survivors to gather in.
The Sleeping Moon
Fortunately for the few survivors of the Great Doom, the
Lago-Moon slept this cycle, having been active much more than expected. Exhausted and with a lot of energy to convert, it fell into slumber. With the disappearance of the Sky-Veil, it fell into the Void Sea where it conveniently nested where the Wounded Black Hole once rested.
Raktor, the Survivors of the Great Doom
To this day, the traumatic event that erased the near entirety of existence remains unexplained to the scarce few survivors. Of all the people who walked the World, only the once defeated and then forgotten
Raktor Remnants escaped immediate doom. From the cryptic accounts of the witnesses, the world disappeared in an instant. Only those who at the time had been roaming the skies in one of the few remaining Raktor Battlecrafts escaped doom, and a few witnesses saw their Sarbreris prisoners vanish as if they had never been.
The World was now filled with nothing but the
Emptiness of the
Void Sea. And in its center slumbered
a malevolent Moon that all now knew hid a
world threatening abomination. There was no land, no creatures, and the air was only breathable in the empty Void Sea.
Return of Ulkor, the Supreme OverlordThe
Great Doom as they call it occurred soon after the mythical return of
Ulkor the Supreme Overlord. Invested with powers far beyond imagination, the vengeful ruler was already fomenting against Sarbreris when it disappeared along with everything else. Neither Ulkor nor the Shadowfolks knew what to make of it. The most optimistic of them believe it was the manifestation of Monarch's power who punished all of creation, while the most pessimistic think they might have actually been cursed and transported in some empty dimension for their war against Esulom.
Had
Ulkor not returned, the Raktor would have devolved into insanity and soon disappeared. But the Supreme Overlord reassured his subjects, and told them that in the
Emptiness, they would carve their
Empire.
Raktor, the Empire of Shadow
Alone and undisturbed, the Shadowfolks of Raktor experimented with what remained of the world.
Mana as they knew it was completely and utterly gone, as if its nature had been rewritten:
Shadow Mana which was an unstable form of Mana had now become the primary nature of Mana, and traces of
Coloured Mana had just gone as if it had never been. Additionally they noticed that the Void Sea was filled with an invisible matter, which they called
Dark Matter. Its nature was closely enough linked to Shadow to allow Ulkor to command it, allowing the Shadowfolks to divine its nature and find way of exploiting it.
First Ulkor created for his people a land by giving shape and physicality to the unseen matter. Then they developped ways to extract and convert Dark Matter in building block for reality, which they called
Shadow Matter. They expanded their land, and built themselves houses and palaces, tools and crafts. Their only sustenance was this new matter converted into
Shadow Mana, which the Shadowfolks could consume.
Preparing for the Awakening of the Lago-Moon
Knowing full well of the threat of the
Lago-Moon, the Empire of Shadow prepared for its inevitable awakening. First they build a gigantic Prison Fortress to seal the Lago-Moon, filling it with weapons and armaments they hoped would one day be useful in killing the beast. Most of this task was realized by Ulkor alone, whose powers over Shadow allowed him to create such a wonder in a few years where it would have taken a lifetime for old Raktor.
Unfortunately, the Empire of Shadow doubt their weapons can even damage the Lago-Moon. Their last resort would be to detonate
Black Bombs inside its belly, but they fear the creature might instead be able to absorb the energy of the bombs to feed itself.
INTERLOPERS TURN
With the Watcher gone, the Interlopers manifest themselves this turn.
The WarlordThe first one is a returning Interloper: the ally of Monarch who came at an earlier cycle to ask for a Mortal Champion to serve as a model for a future army.
He notices the sorry state of the world after the Warden acted, but does notice that a champion did survive: Ulkor.
"I am returned, but what do I see? All Champions but one already slain by the whims of the Warden? A sufficient if unexpected trial, and survival will be proof enough of prowess."Draped in banners of wars, the Warlord Interloper asks Monarch:
"Old Friend, Esteemed Comrade. Will you offer me your Champion? In exchange I can offer you what you need in whatever capacity I can summon. Power to make or unmake. Knowledge to defeat and conquer."Monarch might receive up to 2 Major Interventions, or something else.
The UndeadThe second one is a cheery Interloper surrounded with death and decay. It is an ally of Gratis, who also tried to kill Time.
It offers Gratis a Major Intervention.
In addition, it offers to raise from the dead a disappeared civilization as an undead and undying people. If there are several propositions, it will choose Gratis option by default, or randomly else.
"Gratis?! I nearly didn't recognize you ehehehe. Chirp chirp to you too."The UsurperThe third one is a trapezoid Interloper, once ally of Omnipotence who then betrayed him to usurp his power.
It seems a bit disappointed to see there is nothing created by Omnipotence around, as it wanted to destroy it for fun.
It snickers at Omnipotence, but still offers him a Major Intervention for old time's sake.
The PrinceThe fourth one is a noble Interloper, an ally of Esugomot who ascended thanks to his help.
It offers Esugomot a Major Intervention.
It also offers to teach up to three mortals in matters of rulership, favoring those who would be chosen by Esugomot.
The Stitched MouthThe fifth one is a crazed Interloper, once an ally of Keseem who then became an enemy after turning mad from the secrets they learnt. It is bound in stitched clothes like a strange doll, and only its emaciated stitched mouth is visible from under its hood.
It will curse mortals with maddening secrets next World Turn.
The BureaucratThe sixth one is a well-dressed Interloper, once a rival of Neetocris who then got promoted thanks to Neetocris' dereliction of duty. It has since then warmed up to Neetocris.
It offers Neetocris a Major Intervention.
It only came to visit Neetocris, so it leaves soon after.
