WORLD TURN 7: VICTORY OF NIGHT AND DAY
The War in Heavens continued as Kesem's spirit fused with that of the Starbrought Wyrm, rejunevating it and becoming an entity to surpass the Dragon and the Snake. Invested with the divinity of its creator, the now Starlit Dragon breathed the Nightflame upon the Dragon-Meteor, burning its astral wings. Thus the Dragon-Meteor fell once more toward the World... and in its great fall it collided with the Startouched Bounty, destroying it. It would have then fallen on Gempria of Eternal Day, for it seemed to keep attracting astral entities, but the ancient protection of Tim deflected the Dragon's course on Esulom.
With the might of the stars, the Dragon-Meteor crashed on Esulom... In the skies, the Phoenix, the Snake, and the Starlit Dragon rejoiced.
Esulom: Fires of Esulom
Before the Dragon fell, Esulom of Bountiful Mana suffered from a devastating and one-sided conflict between the Gavrasratii Legions and the Fungalfolks of Esulom. Their resistance was fierce, but ultimately pointless before the invincible legions of Gavrasratii. Pushed to the brink, the Kingdom of Lasers surrendered to Gavrasratii and became a vassal state which the Council of Sand was allowed to govern. It seemed like the situation would settle on Esulom. But then the Dragon-Meteor fell.
In a shattering impact, the Dragon-Meteor landed on Esulom. A great and hateful flame then engulfed the land, and had the land not been invigorated and protected by Mana, all life would surely have ended in that instant. Destruction only spared the Blessed Songbirds, the Trees, the areas affected by Lesser Regeneraton, and the blessed Soul-Things. All others were instantly killed by the meteor blast. Overnight the Gavrasratii Colonies of Esulom vanished along with its inhabitants and the Devourers. And so did vanish the Kingdom of Lasers and the entirety of all Fungalfolks who lived on Esulom, along with the Sapamobeas, and the Angels, the Reincarnated, and the Monsters. The Council of Sand did survive thanks to their blessing, but after everything, was this truly a blessing? They tried to rebuild something out of the ruins, settling in the Sandstone Fort.
Only the Soul-Things were spared from destruction as they hid in the Font of Quiet, having heard a prophecy from [ACTION].[WILL].[EON]. The Angels, Reincarnated, and Monsters were however completely wiped out.
In a display of terrible timing, the Exiles of Dressalia decided to return to Esulom right before the cataclysm. None survived save for the Sandprinces, who mourned the death of the Sandking. They forged a small kingdom in the sands, and their descendants became known as the Manafolks, the Fungal Curse having been purified by flame.
(...)
When the fires settled, those who remained rose to reclaim Esulom. They were the Mana Cores, the descendants of Raven the Songbird loved by Esulom. Although few in numbers at first, they spread and grew in the wake of the cleansed Esulom.
Gavrasratii and Scaple: Resolution of the Invasion
Following the involvement of the God-Kings, the Legions stopped their advance and left to return to their homeland. In return, the Council of Wise(wo)men vowed to offer a worthy tribute to the altar for as long as peace remained. By doing so, the Council became an organisation that answered to no King or Emperor, and operated both in Gavrasratii and Scaple. They were granted by the Sratiitra an exclusive access to the altar, in exchange for managing and optimising the offerings.
Gavrasratii abandoned the colonies, although some refused and decided to cut ties with the Empire to continue the war of conquest against the Adventurers. Great misfortune befell them, and they were all wiped out in short order.
With the Esulomian Colonies annihilated, and the Scapleen Colonies having gone rogue, Gavrasratii refocused its efforts on the Vast Dust Colony which prospered still thanks to the cordial relationships with Dressalia.
Gavrasratii: Invading Draconic Species
In the legends of Gavrasratii, when the Dragon-Meteor fell toward distant Esulom, its scales landed on Gavrasratii and gave birth to the Dragons after Ferina placed feathers on them. The arrival of the Dragons greatly disturbed the lives of those of Gavrasratii, who suddenly overwhelmed by hungry fire-breathing feathery lizards, had to recall from Esulom the victorious Legions to deal with the Dragons. The powerful Dragons made RUT GRATIS VAR their new home and initially brought destruction on Gavrasratii.
But soon the Sratii adapted, thanks to the actions of Rut-Var who taught them how to tame the Dragons. A few Dragons even willingly joined the Empire after hearing the voice of the Mountain, and from them were created the Dragon Riders. While a bit more manageable, the Dragons still plague RUT GRATIS VAR and the Gavrasratii. Some blessed Dragons called the Elder Dragons are especially feared, with only the Blessed Legions able to fight them.
Gavrasratii: Masters of Forcefields
Overnight the Sratii became master of an until then completely unknown technology and power when, according to imperial records, the spirit of Gratis descended upon all Sratii, gifting them the secrets behind the power of rejection and protection. This power and art was called the Shungratis, which the Sratii used to protect their towns, homes, and soldiers. There were no known defenses stronger than Shungratis Barriers in the entire world, allowing the Sratii to continue living without fearing the Dragons as much as they once did. Equiped with impenetrable barrier generators, the Imperial Legions now far eclipsed the forces they were before the gift of Shungratis.
Scaple: Restored Once More
The Storm awakened after its long slumber, and all of Scaple rejoiced as with it returned the bounties of spore and humidity. The corrupted rot yielded to the Storm, and joined back its once brethren rot. The trees planted by Ferina were unable to adapt and all died to become rot.
The Adventurer Kingdom rejoiced from the peace, but saw an era of technological and adventuring stagnation due to the return of lush jungles and the Adventurers having become used to the easy to deal with Rot. The homemakers however really benefitted from the return of fungaltrees, as they no longer had to import Gemprian wood to make quality homes, and Scaple saw an explosion of architectural styles, with the more popular remaining the Neo-Gemprian Style.
The acknowledgement of the Council of Wise(wo)men by Gavrasratii caused a new era of Shamanism and Druidism whose ways started gaining some popularity in the Empire due to its exotism.
Gempria: Democracy of Two Seasons
Untouched by the events of the outside world, Gempria saw an important change with the peaceful change of government from the Kingdom of Two Seasons which became the Democracy of Two Seasons after the decadent lifestyle of the Monarch was spread to all to know thanks to the power of the press. The public outrage caused the end of the monarchy, and a democratic system copied from the Democracy of Day was adopted. As a consequence, Unlen of the new Democracy venerate THESUN more than Tim.
In the Democracy of Day, the Fellowship of Print continued gaining power but fortunately didn't try to abuse of its influence to tip the Democracy toward its interests. The Fellowship made the free and truthful access to information one of their core values, and ushered an era of literacy and critical-thinking in Gempria. Inspired by the Palace of Neetocris, architects and engineers pushed the limits of building techniques and new namestone technologies to create homes so comfortable and well-fitted that people never needed to exit their homes, while retaining healthy lifestyles thanks to the new Beast Spirit Coaches. Some of the architects launched the novel but still niche Spider-style, using the marvelous works of the House-Spiders as inspiration.
Dressalia: Order of the Lightbringers
With the departure of the Esulomian Exiles, Dressalia lost very important minds in the fields of Mana development and research. This caused a serious stagnation of mana and namestone technology. While Taki took a nap, the Lightbringers sought to study the heavens and its great monsters of Night and Day. Their incredible works about the Hierarchy of Heavens granted them the respect of the Dressalian scientific community, and Heavenology became the new fad of Dressalia.
Obsessed with the skies and the disastrous loss of the floating island, the Dressalian started working on a machine that would allow them to go beyond the Skies, toward the upper Heavens where dwelled Snake, Dragon, and Phoenix. In a way, the spirit of Taki inspired them, as they instinctively sought to travel into a land unexplored. Their wanderlust is feeding into the Unknown North, whose previous instability had caused the veil separating it from the rest of the world to weaken. The North is about to spill into the Regions.
