Looks like the Middle East has turned into the thunder dome, wonder if Israel will be able to survive it.

1991 Middle East Conflict
It is now one year to the day since the start of the LP and the world has drastically changed most notably in the Middle East. Iraq has occupied Jordan and now have more then a third of its military on the Israeli border and most countries in the Middle East have fallen to an ongoing Fundamental Islamic revolution led by Saudi Jihadist Osama bin Laden and Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Even NATO member Turkey wasn't able to stand up against the uprising within its own borders. Iraq controls 46% of the world's oil supplies while the Fundamental Islamic nations hold the most combined influence in the Middle East. The region is now drawn into a three-way cold conflict which could become hot at anytime between U.S. ally Israel, Saddam Hussein's Greater Iraqi Empire, and the loose coalition of Fundamental Islamic countries. The United States had withdrawn from the Middle East however it is very likely troops could eventually return to the region to defend Israel against any incursion from either opponent.

Beginning of 1992: Communist Resurgence

New Year's Day 1992: So we enter a new year today and the world has become a very different place. The Cold War which appeared to be behind us is now back due to a worldwide Communist Resurgence which began with the 1991 August Coup during which Hardliners within the Communist Party of the Soviet Union successfully overthrew Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. With the backing of the KGB and the military, the State Committee on the State of Emergency (aka Gang of Eight) under the leadership of Gennady Yanayev acted quickly to eliminate Gorbachev's reforms including most notably Glasnost and Perestroika. Russian Republic President Boris Yeltsin attempted to rally the people against the coup from atop a tank however he was shot to death by a Soviet sniper. The United States harshly condemned the coup and eventually leveled a full economic trade embargo against the Soviet Union which was even worse then the grain embargo the U.S. imposed on the Soviets in response to Afghanistan in '80. The successful hardliner coup in the Soviet Union triggered multiple Communist takeovers of countries around the world including a number of former Warsaw Pact countries, a number of previously neutral countries, and even a couple U.S. allies. The loss of Greece to the Communist Bloc dealt a serious blow to the United States which was still recovering from the loss of Turkey to the Fundamental Islamic Uprisings and it Soviets near complete control over the Balkans plus a major naval base in the Aegean Sea. Furthermore the United States now has to focus much of its conventional military effort on homeland defense since the Communist takeover of Mexico means that Soviet Union now has a staging ground from which to invade our country should world war happen. Columbia being taken over by FARC Guerrillas means that the Soviets could also potentially seize the Panama Canal. And because of the embargo with the Soviet Union, the U.S. military budget wasn't able to be increased without triggering another deficit. On a positive note, the Iraqis cancelled their planned invasion of Israel though this was due to not having enough troops immediately available and the Fundamental Islamic countries refused to allow them entry. Also Israel's nuclear capabilities have increased to "Macro-Region" on par with France. The U.S. has also deployed troops to Israel and vowed to defend them if attacked.

Two Years Later: Communist Resurgence Continues
It is now two years to the day since the start of the scenario and communism still spreads as it appears the Soviet vision of world revolution may be underway with the Warsaw Pact being nearly rebuilt and even Brazil turning Communist giving the Russians a potentially powerful ally in South America. The Soviet Union launched a successful surgical strike triggering a failed condemnation from the United States. Iraq has been stirring up trouble with Egypt again, Turkey has decided to schedule some ops against Iraq, Ethiopia has launched a surgical strike against Djibouti, and the Soviet Union has staged covert ops on several Western nations. World War III is certainly becoming increasingly more likely. It may well have already been triggered had I threatened military action to try to stop them from hitting Japan so I just settled on a simple protest and a call for U.N. assistance even though I knew that second one was just a waste of time.

Note: I've realized some of my image sharing has become rather repetitive and even I am starting to find myself slightly annoyed. Not to mention the huge amount of images swarming in my imgur account. From now on I shall endeavor to use only the most key screenshots so people won't have to scroll through so many images anymore.

Beginning of 1993: Communist World Leadership Competition

As we enter 1993, the Communist Resurgence of the 1990s has greatly reshaped the world. The Warsaw Pact was nearly completely restored by the end of 1994 and the U.S. has all but lost their allies in South America with the Soviet Union staging a successful coup in Peru. Ecuador has managed to hold out against increasing social instability and no way Chile will slip into the Eastern Bloc with Pinochet as Commander-In-Chief. The Soviet Union also has 100,000 troops stationed along the US-Mexico border as a deterrent from any preemptive military action from the Americans. The Soviet military outnumbers the U.S. military around two to one. There has been a covert war waged with the Soviet Union which resulted in human rights suffering slightly in a number of Western countries including the United States. Of course 1992 has been a turbulent year in the United States thanks to the Rodney King riots which plagued several U.S. cities especially L.A. resulting in President Bush declaring martial law in Southern California. The KGB assassinated Deng Xiaoping of China eliminating the concept of a market socialist economy he was attempting to setup. Due to an upgrade in China's status from major power to great power, the Soviet Union lost their entire World Team Alliance since two competing Communist great powers cancels each other out resulting in both "leading" lone wolf alliances. Despite this many Communist countries still maintain Soviet garrisons which will not hesitate to defend them if attacked. The Fundamental Islamic revolution continued throughout Arab countries throughout Africa resulting in Osama bin Laden's movement gaining a majority in the Arab League. Despite his aggression in 1990-1991, Saddam Hussein is now seen by both the United States and Israel as a lesser evil with the leaders of both states considering a non-aggression pact with Iraq which has now been labeled by Saddam as the "Third Babylonian Empire". Saddam's own spy agency eliminated Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Seems like the Soviet's are stronger in this game than in other ones you've posted.

Strange that having two communist world powers breaks the Soviet team alliance.

Ongoing Communist Resurgence and Sudan-Kenya War

The first six months have been very eventful. The first notable ground conflict since the Gulf War broke out in February 1993 when Fundamental Islamic Sudan executed a full-scale invasion of nearby Kenya. The U.S. was able to detect the invasion in advance after increasing observation spending in Sudan and responded by increasing and intelligence aid to Kenya. When Sudan had attacked the U.S. appealed to the U.N. and while a resolution was adopted Sudan ignored it. The U.S. remained neutral in the conflict. By April 1993, the war was beginning to get close as Sudan's own casualties increased and will to fight decreased probably a result of the aid. However in the end, Sudanese forces captured Mombasa and the Kenyans unconditionally surrendered. In the aftermath, Kenya was occupied by Sudan which allowed the Fundamental Islamic "min-bloc" and the Arab League to gain a land connection with Somalia. Communist Ethiopia is now in a precarious position. An earlier Taliban marched on Kabul and replaced Afghanistan's Communist ideology with that of Fundamental Islam. Despite this, several additional countries fell to the ongoing Communist Resurgence.

Hoping to break the Sino-Soviet stalemate to regain their World Team Alliance, the Soviet Union attempted to invade the People's Republic of China HOWEVER the Chinese threatened massive nuclear retaliation so the Soviets cancelled the invasion and suffered a small drop in leadership as well as a possible increase in ambition. Furthermore before this failed invasion, the U.S. detected the upcoming invasion and attempted to send a full military aid package to China only for them to reject it for ideological differences also hurting U.S. leadership. Turns out they didn't need it. The nuclear threat was no doubt due to the fact China ruled a lone wolf World Team Alliance so the very reason the Soviets wanted to invade China is the reason they can't.

Beginning of 1994: Cold War Turbulent

We enter the year 1994 with the Soviet Union officially full-on BAD GUYS with maximum ruthless ambition and non-existent ethics much like the days of Joseph Stalin. Unfortunately they are also in a much stronger position then ever. China was downgraded back to Major Power from Great Power which allowed the Soviet Union to regain control over their World Team Alliance. In addition to nearly restoring the Warsaw Pact, the Communists gained much of Latin America and are gaining more ground in Africa. The Soviet Union took its first major aggressive action against a NATO member, in this case Norway, in the form of a sponsored coup which resulted in the constitutional monarchy being deposed and a Communist government seizing power in Oslo. Because of this, the Soviet Union is now in a position to threaten the United Kingdom in the event of World War III which is becoming increasingly likely as time goes on. The Fundamental Islam now is the world's fifth largest ideology. There were a number of conflicts throughout late 1993. The U.S. increased espionage spending in Lebanon to find out what they were doing and it led to them responding with a failed attempt to arm rebels in the U.S. so the U.S. responded by successfully arming theirs. That's when they took things out of proportion by attempting to assassinate the U.S. President prompting him to order a surgical strike. A military invasion was considered but decided against THIS time. China launched two surgical strikes on India leading to India invading but they were easily beaten back within 18 hours. Despite this a Chinese coup attempt in India failed. Tragedy struck in the southern United States when a band of Libyan terrorists drove into a oil refinery in East Texas in a Volkswagen Van, killed the guards, planted charges, and drove off as the refinery went up in smoke killing nearly a thousand. The United States retaliated with a surgical strike and economic sabotage against Libya. North Korea downed a U.S. jetliner in the eastern United States leading to a economic sabotage and a surgical strike attempt - the U.S. was forced to call off that attack when the Soviet Union threatened nuclear retaliation so the Americans had to settle for leveling a full trade embargo instead. Saddam Hussein has become increasingly aggressive with the growing Fundamental Islamic bloc. They had planned to launch a surgical strike on Iran but cancelled due to Soviet nuclear threat and they committed a number of covert operations. Most notably Iraq had detonated its first test bomb setting them much closer to becoming a nuclear power.

Seems like a massive world conflict isn't to far off given how many coups and small conflicts are happening.

Also that world peace meter in one of the pictures doesn't seem right because we don't seem to be in a cold war any more given that one side seem to be actively poking the other trying to start a fight.

Start of the Second Korean War

Due to the 1990s Communist Resurgence and the recent obtainment of nuclear weapons by Saddam Hussein, concern over North Korea's nuclear program increased even more. As President George H.W. Bush weighed his option, he was contacted by Governor of Arkansas Bill Clinton who voiced similar concerns and said that if he were President he'd send former President Jimmy Carter to meet with Kim Il Sung to discuss nuclear disarmament. President Bush initially considered sending Carter but decided instead to send former President Richard Nixon due to his experience in East Asian diplomacy. However even as they met, South Korea took it upon itself to launch a military strike against North Korea targeting the Yongbyon Nuclear facility which reset North Korea's nuclear program. A very furious Kim Il Sung promptly expelled former President Nixon from Pyongyang and ordered a military invasion of South Korea in retaliation of the bombing marking the start of the Second Korean War. The United States immediately came to the aid of South Korea using the Eight United States Army and the Third Marine Division to defend against North Korea's invasion. The U.S. also increased its military and intelligence aid to South Korea to maximum. While the military goal here is obviously to prevent our ally from being conquered by their Communist neighbor to the north, it is very unlikely any offensive military action will be taken to reunite the Korean Peninsula since the Soviet Union would almost certainly come to their own ally's aid which would in all likelihood ignite World War III. More updates to come...
