Congratulations on the new update and thanks for your help in the community.

Dwarf Fortress Classic 50.10 gives "SDL2.dll" missing at the start for me and a friend.
I used to play 5.09 until today without any problem.

edit: Moving 5.09's "SDL2.dll" to 5.10's folder fixed problem.

Ha!

Also,
Code: [Select]
"Major bug fixes

Woohoo! And good riddance! Personally, I found that bug to be insufferable.

Whelp!  Looks like I need to get my Linux system back up and running (I utterly borked it last time I tried updating it. I think I ran a command afterwards that I shouldn’t have run…).  Also need to make an itch.io account so I can buy DF (also need to make a Steam account so I can use the Steam key and get DFHack…).  I hope the Steam key will let me use all of the mods and utilities that are on Steam…

Anyways, I’m currently dd-ing an updated installation iso over to a USB key…

Yippee!! However, I'm getting the error:

error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2_image-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

When trying to run the Linux version.

Use the package manager for what ever Linux distro you are using to install the SDL2-image package.

Well... Its over for me, for a while at least. My debian10 don't have the needed libraries and I'll not change my OS. Even the latest wine couldn't run the windows version. Sad story. From 50.08 behind, all works fine.

libSDL2_image-2.0.so.0 is available in Debian 10 ("Buster") in the official package repo: https://packages.debian.org/buster/libsdl2-image-2.0-0

Installing it is a matter of running "apt install libsdl2-image-2.0-0"

The system has all those libs. Just not those versions.

Easiest way to reproduce this in freshly extracted game is to switch to windowed mode and restart -- it will revert to premium graphics, and you have to disable it every session which is inconvenient. Couldn't find this one on the bugtracker though, should i report it?

Iklistkel: Yeah, glibc compatibility is a problem, but hopefully it's not too hard to fix.  Don't give up hope yet :-)  Really you just need to get the correct versions of the libraries and stick them in the DF directory (and also set the LD_LIBRARY environment variable to use the libraries in that directory).

Is anybody organising this?  I could potentially help if there is a lack of expertise.  I don't think there is any particular reason to wait for Putnam to fix it.  We could just bung together the correct libs from more recent versions of debian along with the startup script that's in the community release and it would probably just work.
