Here's what I'd like to see: the option to start adventure mode, have the ability to dig (or build with wood maybe?) and start a fortress/town/outpost FROM ADVENTURE MODE.  Maybe you would start digging/building, claim the spot, then go around telling others (a dialogue option maybe: "Come to ****** it's a great place to live!")  Then you start getting migrants.  You can't control them like fortress mode (you only control your adventurer) but you can place the buildings like in fortress mode (which could be explained as you say "we need a mason's workshop right here).

Hm, in order to do that they might need to add something like Rome Total War's battle map system where the map you get when you zoom in directly reflects the terrain on the world map.  So if you were next to a mountain range, there would be mountains.

Somewhere toady has stated that he would eventually like to make an adventurer able to join a town/city/fort/etc and interact and live there as if it were fort mode much as described above. This would take a lot of both advent and fort additions though, not just one or the other. >_> But i sign.

I have played fort mode for almost a year now..

Today I tried playing adventure mode and I LOVE it  :)

I know that the single planned game feature I most want to see is the addition of the fort mode skills to adventure mode.

Toady's coding over the last few months had advanced the game engine by leaps and bounds, for which, I think, we are all tremendously grateful; but sadly, though the over-all game world has been fleshed out more, Adventure Mode *is* still lagging behind Dwarf Mode in terms of playability and things to do.

I would personally be content if we could do most of the things in Adventure Mod that we can already do in Dwarf Mode. Let us mine for stone and cut down trees for wood; let us build our own little workshops in the towns; let us make crafts and things and whatnot. Whatever system is implemented for this need not be complex or permanent; just a rudimentary system that allows us to gather resources and make crafts is all I really think Adventure needs at this point (or, at least give us fully functional Adventure Mode towns that run like Dwarf Mode outposts). So, consider this petition signed by me! But even if you decide to delay the development of Adventure Mode more fully Toady, still, keep up the good work!

However, don't focus on Adventure mode to the detriment of Dwarf mode. Just don't forget about Adventure either.

I've been thinking: in fortress mode your miner can clear out 100, 200 tiles tops per season, right? so it should take some 6 hours to clean one out, and that's with good skills. this would be pretty boring to adventurers...
