Hello everyone. I'm back once more with another attempt at running a game. With my work schedule finally becoming stable(ish), I can finally come back to try to run stuff again.
The mighty warship, HMS Invincible, Largest battleship of this era is cruising off the coast of the Isle of Glastov doing a humanitarian mission alongside HMSS Heather, HMSS Balstoi, HMSS Keurig, and HMSS Langston. Glastov has recently been the epicenter of a large earthquake and tsunami. In the region, there's been reports of Cantolian naval exercises and a growing fleet presence with mounting political tensions between Bratavia (the home empire) and Cantolia. War is imminent.
Not far from the Isle of Glastov, the rest of 1st fleet is conducting a routine exercise. Among them are the battleships (HMS State, HMS Empire, HMS King Julian, and HMS King Philip), battlecruiser HMS Justiciar, carrier HMS Belleview, heavy cruisers (HMS Haymaker, HMS Whallop, HMS Chop, and HMS Strike), light cruisers (HMS Jacobstown, HMS Halvio, HMS Kersenville, HMS Umtali, HMS Jacinto, and HMS Teczto), several destroyers (I'm not about to name all 30 of them), and several submarines (SS Cuttlefish, SS Stingray, SS Guppy, SS Carp, and SS Beluga). They are not within sight distance. Nobody has invented radio yet, so you are essentially cut off from the rest of the fleet.
But nobody would dare assault the greatest battleship to have ever been constructed, right? Right?
Wrong
Technologically, its roughly the 1920s/30s with some caveats. Carriers are relatively established as things countries want and carrier doctrine is improved over the real life counterparts. Most ships are either coal fired or fuel oil fired (as opposed to my last venture with this, where the invincible was nuclear).
Ranks are your paygrade (I.e. E-1 through E-10 (enlisted), or O-1 through O-10(Officer)).
Rates, or ratings as they are actually supposed to be called, are the jobs for the enlisted. Officers do not have rates. Example being MM3 (Machinist's Mate 3rd Class) or ETSN (Electronics Technician Seaman). There's a wide variety of rates, so I recommend either asking me directly about the rate you want or to look up what you might want.
I know this isn't the ship in question, but you can use it for reference to the below layout.
The following areas are available to be in, rate dependent (Also, the decks are in reference to the main deck. 1st deck is the main deck, with 2nd being below the 1st, etc. Levels are above the main deck starting at 01:
Fo'c'sle (Forwardmost compartment below the main deck)
Berthing (Living quarters (specify what general portion of the ship you're in))
Galley (Kitchen (If you're a CS, this is your most likely station)) (just behind the mess decks)
Mess Deck (Lower Enlisted eating area)(2nd deck, amidships and forward)
Chief's Mess (Upper Enlisted eating area) (Aft)
Wardroom (Officer eating area) (Fore, Aft, and amidships, on the 01 and 2nd decks (fore wardroom is on the 1st deck)
Magazine (Where the ammo is held, just bellow the main cannons, but could be behind the secondary casemate guns) (from the 3rd deck all the way to the double bottom)
Engine Room (Where the magic that is propulsion and energy generation occur) (3rd deck from the magazine forward to the magazine aft and down to the double bottom)
Bridge (control station) (08)
Medical (Medical) (2nd deck amidships above engine room and between the mess decks)
Shaft Alley (Where the shafts that connect to the screws move through the ship) (somewhere around 6th - 8th decks around the magazines on the outboards all the way back to the screws.)
Torpedo Rooms (Torpedoes to kill other ships) (All are on the 4th deck. One is fore, under the fo'c'sle and anchor chain stowage, two literally amidships, just above the engine room's upper armor slope, and the aft one just off of centerline below the fantail)
Armory (where you get the small pew pews) (Behind the secondary casemates in the superstructure)
Weather Deck (Specify where on the ship, roughly)
Admin (YN, PS, LN)
Weapons (GM, QM, TM, OS, SM)
Deck (Any rate can be assigned to Deck)
Engineering (MM, EM, DC, ET, EN)
Damage Control (Mostly DC, but can be any rate)
Supply (LS, RS, CS)
Aviation (ABE, ABF, ABM, MM(A))
Security (MA, QM, GM)
Intel (CT)

Description: A bigger man going slightly on the doughy side, all of those midrats brought to maneuvering (is it called maneuvering on a battleship, anyways?) hardly have ever helped with his weight. With a constant supply of aviator sunglasses and a bold (in-regulation) moustache, this lad isn't quite ready for CQC, but hey, at least his school was paid for.
Backstory: Thought that big ships and big guns and big turbines were cool, learned that he could: sail the seven seas, put his mind at ease, and come and take a stand, so he joined up in college. Currently is unfortunately standing watch as the Officer of the Deck on this doomed ship. When he's not standing watch he's busy managing the a-gangers as AUXO.
Location: Bridge, or bridge wing, doing his best to manage boredom among the watchstanders with his trusty binoculars and adelaide. Not quite good at maneuvering boards, but pretty good at gundecking his division's PQSs.
