Why aren’t the storage caves shown on the map?  There should be three of them.

Also, would it be possible to convert a cave home or a storage cave to a carved balcony?  What about other types of conversion?

Edit:  also, which way is which?  Is the left the outside and the right the inside, or is it the other way around?

You can change the houses into balconies or storage caves.

Right is inside. Think of it like early DF.

You need a house to dwell in. So yes, you will need a new cave home.

Also, are the cave homes open to the air?  I'm asking because the "H"'s are straddling the line between inside and outside.  Also, why hasn't the map  been updated to include the storage caves yet?

The cave homes aren't open to air. You can't build things in them.

The migrants will just have to get used to it, just like all new comers do when they arrive to a newly founded fort.
