Well, it would really be irresponsible to go back to sleep now. You have defenses to shore up, and if more serious tomb raiders showed up you would be ill prepared to defend the Orb.

You study the book before you. It is an object of great power; Mardoth’s Prayer. You have multiple such objects in the tomb, each helping the god-king on his path to ascension.

You manage to get some information from the thralls. They were taken by a group of bandits that holed up in a cavern outside the Statue Garden.

Now, you can’t exactly leave the tomb, but you do happen to have a murderous rampaging former bandit you can return to them, or perhaps you could come to terms with their chief by sending one of the humans?

A. Send Gro-mash the Rage Vampire to deal with the bandits.

B. Send the Thralls to discuss a deal with the bandits.




The mages life force is rather potent, allowing you to alter the environment or summon or recruit creatures. You decide to make with your 20pts:



Combat Room-20pts Comes with a squad of minions (skeletons/zombies/giants rats sort of deal, typically not dangerous to hero except in large numbers) Room should be designed to fit the strategies (if any) of the minions or planned combatants. Describe room, its minions/or champion and a potential strategy.

Illusion Room-20pts A room designed to maximize mental stress and confusion on those who enter.  The magic of the room increases the desired effect, reducing the disbelief and skepticism of any tomb raiders. Describe room and the reaction it seeks to provoke.



Support Rooms-Typically off the main path of any adventure

Minion Squad -10pts A squad of minions such as skeletons/zombies/giants rats sort of deal, typically not dangerous to hero except in large numbers. Can be used to support champions or plopped into rooms. Describe where they come from.


(You will unlock more room types in the future! So there will be about ~6 different hallways adventurers will go down, each with a potent treasure at the end. Right now whichever room you pick will just happen to be in the next hallway the raiders will choose. Support rooms will be off the main path, but you can direct adventurers to them to lay on a little more damage, but you risk damaging the room.

You typically want a good mix of combat and illusion rooms to keep the raiders on their toes. Regular rooms can be either, which is good for flexibility, but won’t be as strong as either. Using a combat room for an illusion will be as strong as a regular room, and vice versa. )

B: Have a thrall tell the chief that the elf has found something he wants to show the chief under absolute secrecy, so the chief must come in alone.

Combat Room: The narrow stairs and ledges of this chamber, surrounding a central plummet into mist, make the perfect environment from which the inhabiting swarm of dire bats can harass intruders ascending toward the high trapdoor exit.

I admit, I've been lurking for a bit but this seems fun. Never played a dungeon keeper-esque game before, but the more carnage - of our enemies - the better, right?
(I'm not always the best at coming up with viable ideas. But if you want a theme, I probably have too many of them.)

Amendment: the ‘certain doom’ is also an illusion, albeit a painful one. In reality, those that fall are whisked away to be imprisoned and dominated, or otherwise repurposed.

Turn 1 Results

Gro-mash returns shortly after you send him out to the cavern, dripping in blood and eyes gleaming. He was rather enthusiastic in clearing the cave of the bandits and raiders, and drags in the bandit chief’s body, near split in half.

Well, you would have preferred him alive, but you can only expect so much from your Rage Vampire, and you suppose restraint isn’t exactly one of them.

He did bring in some cowering bandits behind him, some injured and others terrified into near insensibility. Their life force is rather meager in total (+10) but perhaps you could make use of them?

A. Take their life force. (+10)
B. Turn them into minions, could make useful spies out in the world.  (-10)

You finish up work on your hallway of false steps and dangerous drops, some leading to spike traps, acidic water, and a  room that obliterates the memory of whoever falls inside. You thought that was a fun addition at the last minute.


The woman (it really is unfortunate the thrilling process stripped them of most of their personality, you never learned their names) occasionally stops by to observe the process. You suppose it might be strange to see:

-Oversized scarabs pushing blocks into place.
-Chittering imps carving away at stone.
-Automatons hauling buckets of acid.
-An invisible force moving everything to its place.
-Something else?
(No real mechanical impact here, just a fun way to decide what your actions look like.)



As you put on the finishing touches of your treacherous hallway, an alarm triggers your attention. A group of four THEIVES have arrived at your doorstep. Unluckily for them, they arrived near your newly furnished hallway.

You study their appearance as they glance around the room. One tall human male, armed with a Greatsword leads the way. Behind him a willowy figure in a dark robe and a dwarven man with a symbol of Harzock on his chest follow behind. A human woman with a twisted oak staff takes up the rear, green hair spilling from her jaunted hat.

They discuss if perhaps this path will lead them to the bandit camp. Clearly adventurers on clean up duty, but they will have no qualms about pillaging your tomb!

Decide your setup:
They have three rooms to traverse before they make it to the Object of Power’s room. Decide where you would like the hallway to be placed in the order of rooms.  The other two will be normal rooms which you can do either combat or illusion as they enter.

Will the Watch your Step hallway be the:
-1st Room
-2nd Room
-3rd Room?
