AikoYou look around you. You're unable to remember how you got here. The TV you recall, but nothing after. It almost feels like you've been walking around for a while, but you don't remember how.
Shizu blinks on your arm. She seems to be hibernating. You won't know it until she wakes up, but this is because of the vast quantity of information about this world she's been given.
In the meantime, you'll just have to explore the area. Luckily, you remember this particular block, it has your favorite sweets shop right around the corner. What you don't remember is every
other block of the city being covered in green fog. Or suddenly transforming into a world straight out of a science fiction show. Or dead ending in a grassy plain.
Something about the fog at least feels familiar, but you can't quite place it.
BrynnA vast slab of nothingness surrounds you. There are other territories far in the distance, but you feel as though it would take you a thousand years to reach them running as fast as you could.
And you're not sure you can do that anymore, seeing as you seem to be a rather young girl. And one completely devoid of any sort of draconic traits save for your reptilian eyes, at that. As far as you can tell, you're a perfectly normal human middle-schooler.
And you're not alone. In the distance, but much more accessible than the far-off lands, a familiar sword has been half-embedded in the stone. For a very long time, from the looks of it.
Much like Shizu, Arisen will know about this place. The nature of this place as a second chance for Mahou Shoujo. The mechanisms of territory, mana, and dominion. The reward of reincarnation to the point of your death should you win. And, of course, the reasons behind why you've suddenly lost all of your powers.
TayirYou're on a boat. In a lake.
There's a large medieval castle to your south and east, an empty plain to the north, and a greyscale city beset by rain to the east. It seems to be nighttime, and the lake reflects the stars above even though the sky itself is completely starless.
You look around you and spot, well, yourself on the nose of the boat. It's a very small you compared to the you that you are. It stares blankly at you. You take a step towards it and the motion feels entirely wrong. You stumble and nearly fall, instinctively grabbing the side of the boat to stabilize yourself. You spot your reflection in the lake, and you quickly understand why the crow is so small. You're a human teenager, 15 or so, a dark-skinned girl with medium-length raven-black hair swept across your face and around the side of your head, where it sort of flares up like the tip of a wing. the underside of your hair seems to be a very dark blue and towards the ends it gets lighter until it turns completely white. The white matches your eyes, which are so starkly contrasted against the rest of you that they practically sparkle like the stars in the lake below.
In order to comply with the rules of Battlestar, each of you has had your existence altered into that of a magical girl. This comes with four things: A name, a land, a familiar, and a transformation. Also, if you weren't already, you're an adolescent girl now.
Whenever you say your name, you'll find yourself magically compelled to speak your entire magical girl name, including the star. This doesn't normally apply to others speaking your name, but for Aiko and Shizu specifically, they'll also be compelled to use each other's full names.
Aiko/Shizu: Red Rose Magical✩Aiko/Blue Rose Magical✩Shizu
Brynn: Magical Girl Dragonheart✩Brynn
Tayir: Mahou Shoujo Phantom✩Tayir
Your lands are as described in the map section. Aiko and Shizu's is Friends and Unity, Brynn's is Stone and Judgement, and Tayir's is Stars and Solitude.
Familiars are and entity that gives you power or is involved in your transformation. Sapient familiars have also been granted fundamental knowledge about Battlestar that they can impart unto their Mahou Shoujo.
Aiko: Shizu is self-explanatory
Brynn: Holding Arisen is now a requirement for you to transform and has mechanically taken on the traits of the one forged to replace it. Also, it's too big heavy for you to carry so you have to either drag it along with both hands or use the conveniently placed straps on your back to wear it like an extremely heavy backpack.
Tayir: Your familiar appears identical to your original body, but without any of the personality or intelligence. It will follow you and generally go where you direct it, but it cannot rely information or perform any magical tasks. It's basically just a pet crow. When you transform, it will fly into your chest and fuse with you.
Transformations default to instant unless it's the first time you transform, in which case you'll be expected to write them out in detail. You're also free to do the entire thing repeatedly if you want, Aiko. Unless you are transformed, you lose access to all magical powers and even certain more mundane ones, such as enhanced strength or healing. You are a completely normal human without transforming. Once transformed, you gain access to all powers you would normally have, with slight modifications where appropriate (such as having a completely invisible psychic attack gaining a visual, or a physical transformation instead taking the form of a weapon change).
Aiko: You need no information here lol.
Brynn: You stay a small girl and gain an orange and light grey leotard in place of your usual protective scales the leotard has a fairly short skirt styled after a dragon's wing. At the center of your chest, peeking out between the armor plates I'm about to mention, there's a fiery red gem that is partially fused with your body beneath the leotard, it burns brighter relative to the number of Dragonhearts you have. There are bony armor plates in a slightly darker orange on your chest, sides, and upper back. As well as gauntlets and boots of the same material that go up to your knees and elbows respectively. The gauntlets are fingerless because I think that's cool, and also because your fingernails are sharp and durable enough to be used as claws. Also there's a bit of leotard material that covers from where the boots end at you knee to partially up your thigh. On your back you sprout a pair of large orange and red dragon wings that are big enough to fully encase you if you wrap them around yourself for protection and are even more durable than your scales.
Tayir: When your familiar fuses with you, the blue/white part of your hair gains a very faint glow. You also get a leotard, although it ends beneath your armpits rather than covering your shoulders. It is colored mostly black with pale blue accents. Off the right side, matching the flair in your hair, a handful of jet black feathers project up over your shoulder on the front. And around your waist a similar display of feathers form a skirt that angles steeply downwards to cover from your right hip to your lower left thigh. You gain pair of high-heeled boots that cover up to your lower thighs, and on the left side you have half of a pair of sheer black tights extending from the boot up underneath your leotard. You have a pair of small feathered wristguards. a small dark blue chain with three sparkling white gems in in is wrapped around your upper left arm just below the shoulder. Also, your nails are painted black. In place of your talons, you gain a pair of slightly curved black daggers that will serve the same purpose for attacks.
Your movements leave an ethereal afterimage with a similar visual style to your crow form. While most of your abilities that involve direct action on your part can work fine with just your new body, these afterimages can be split off from yourself into entirely separate entities for actions that require multiple bodies to perform.
After the plot is over, you'll be presented with the option to keep a form of this powerset if you so choose. The exact details of how this will work will be laid out at that time.
Battlestar has two major changes from the usual system that apply to both players and bosses: Dominion and Mana
Dominion increases all damage and restoration by a flat amount: Dominion/3 for the players, but the full value of Dominion for bosses.
Mana replaces the usual Action economy system. You may use up to 5 Actions per turn, and in place of the usual weapon use limitation you can only use a given piece of equipment for up to 3 of your actions. You start every fight with Mana equal to 6+4*lvl and Mana is expended every time you use an Action. 1 Mana is gained whenever you would gain an extra action, such as from Gatling's Class Ability, but otherwise Mana is a finite resource. When fighting within your own territory, your Mana is set to the higher result between the Mana formula and your Dominion*1.5.
You can continue to fight without Mana, you just won't be able to use Actions. If your HP is reduced to 0 you won't be knocked out of a fight, and instead will consume 1 Mana to hang on at 10% HP. If your Mana and HP are both at 0, you'll be ejected from the plot and receive two injuries, one physical and one mental.
