There's no Redleaf here. We bought 150 sacks at 370 Ducats each. Might be worth seeing if anyone is interested in buying?

It's a shame we don't have 2 million ducats to spare, to buy all that Silver. I don't know where else we'd expect to find some though, if we buy 10 barrels, that's half our current funds, but could give us 20k profit at home...

Oh yeah, there's not. I thought about that, but I didn't feel like checking the local price and figured somebody else would do it. :P
I agree with doing this as well.

We might want to hold the redleaf for somewhere where there's a marked demand, but no harm in finding out the price.

D) Negotiate the sale of RedLeaf

By my calculations, we have 148,718 ducats in cash at hand, so we could afford 18 barrels of silver. Silver is hard to get so worth loading up on, so I agree to selling stuff to buy more.

You attempt to negotiate the price of Redleaf with the market.

Quote
5 vs 6, price risen
2 vs 1, price falls
5 vs 5, price stagnant

Market Keeper is willing to buy Redleaf for the usual seasonal price of 330 Ducats.

A) Negotiate again!
B) (pick option from previous update)

That would be a loss as there is no special demand here.

No point selling if we don't make money.

You buy 18 barrels of Silver.

"That is one hundred forty four thousand Ducats, Captain." The Purser writes in his ledger, grimacing only slightly. "That leaves us with four thousand seven hundred eighteen Ducats, you know? I will keep this information away from the Sailors. Just so that they're not worried about their wages. I do hope we sell some of leftover Company goods next port, at least." The Purser closes his ledger.

"What's your orders, Captain?"

A) "We go back to Santa Julia and set sail!"
B) "Let's visit the Company Man to at least say hello."
C) "Let's sell... (insert trade good here)!"
D) Consult the Ledger.

I would not have bought quite that much, but hey ho.

We still need 125 Coffers of Blackspice, which will probably cost between 100k and 125k. If we sell all our Old World cargo at company price, it nets us 45k. We bought our Redleaf for 55k (370 per), so we need to sell for at least 530 a sack to guarantee enough funds to buy the remainder, and that's before we consider money for wages. It's gonna be tight.

"We go to Santa Julia and set sail."

"Right away, sir!"

On Santa Julia, the Surgeon is watching you board the ship.

"Captain."

"What is it?"

"I'm just told to notify you that the First Mate and the Gunner have disembarked."

"What? For whatever purpose?"

"They got a bit worried that our ship, singular, is vulnerable in the areas you wish to visit whilst those accursed Albionese brothers are on the prowl." Says the Navigator, chiming into the conversation.

"They went to ascertain whether anyone with a ship is headed for Guidea next."

You harrumph, but you're not going to leave without your officers. And any way, the cargo sold and bought still need to be moved onto the ship.

3rd Midwinter
Late Afternoon
Copana, Coast of Columbia

The First Mate and the Gunner return about an hour after you.

"Captain, apologies for this selfish excursion onto the land."

"Better say how it went."

"Bad, Herr Kapitan!" The Gunner grimaces. "There is no ships going westwards."

"The only one is a Zeelander seventy-fiver Ship, but her crew is taking her to Costas tomorrow morn." Says the First Mate, eyeing some heavy barrels being moved onto the ship.

A) "We're going to Guidea anyway."
B) "Go back then! Tell the Zeelanders we shall accompany them!"
C) "Actually, I've changed my mind, our next stop is... (insert port name here)"

We're out of money to buy more metal so maybe ambling in the direction of home and missing the rest of the mines isn't such a bad idea. As it is, we need to make sure we can sell stuff enroute to pay wages, so the less stops the better maybe...

We could cut out Las Argentas, and thus the whole of the Columbia Bay, by going to Costas and then Pointas. That will save us some time, and may let us avoid the pirates.

I think it might be wise. Even if we did want to risk the pirates, it looks like we might not have the capacity to load up on metal and pay our staff and haul all the blackspice. Not unless we get lucky on prices for the other junk we have.
