1. Lavaskin Hexagonbaga now forms schools to protect themselves from predators and to preserve more heat
ss. Lavaskin Hexturtle develops claw/spikes at the ends of their limbs to protect themselves from predators
2. Lavaskin Hexagonbaga develops tail fins to be better propel themselves
3. Lavaskin Hexturtle speciates:
    a. develops sharp keratin teeth and starts eating other fish
    b. develops ears to hear predators(if it already has ears, better hearing)
I want to edit my turn a little:
2. the specific tail fin is forked Homocercal fin
3a. I want the adults to develop sharp teeth. What I mean by this is that the juveniles retain the cleaning and basking style baleen while the adults grow sharp keratin teeth and solely eats other fish.

I swear NQT is going try to drown everyone out via sheer volume of species or something like that

Here's a quick look at one way of scoring the game (though the nice thing is, everyone can aim for different personal win conditions):

NQT: 10 species in 10 niches
TricMagic 8 species in 5 niches
Blood Librarian: 7 species in 7 niches
Flazeo25 6 species in 6 niches
Canadian Kitten 4 species in 4 niches
Crystalizedmine 4 species in 2 niches
brangerlon 2 species in 2 niches
FiveBalesOfHay 2 species in 2 niches
Knightwing 1 species in 1 niche
44/47 slots taken

(I've defined "niche" here as apex/predator/prey in each biome.)

Isn't the hard part of that plan then to outcompete other creatures in other biomes if your speciating to it, since replacing a creature harder.

But I can see somewhat now what your doing.

Your speciating Deepsea Megalocod to maintain it's predator postion while trying to get one of it's two slipts as apex, likely the spiral form has better chance if dice rolls in favor.

You're right that I've got my sights on the Apex position, and rolling the dice on which of the two might have chance. But the key thing is, even if both fail, they have a good chance of making a rival species extinct. My thinking in displacement is that if I try and displace into areas where my species is more populous than the least-populous rival, then I have a good chance of displacing them (though it's not certain as creatures are adapted to the other creatures in their area). I don't think all 8 dice rolls will go my way, but spreading the risk around seems like a safer approach. Spreading the species around makes it more likely that an evolutionary branch will survive, in case a big shock makes them non-viable in any given biome.

In the last game, Knightwing also focused on one mega species, while I speciated loads and Tric speciated and then merged his creatures.

In this game I'm focusing on one overall species, with selection determining which survive and become the primary.
Parasites will never be Apex, but you can't really get rid of them

Is merging possible here?

Knightwing 1 species in 1 niche
I see that Knightwing still hasn't speciated.

Is merging possible here?
Probably not easily. TricMagic's whole gimmick in the last game was cross-speciating spore stuff. He eventually merged a bunch of them into a sort of hivemind, somehow. Magma allowed other weird creative stuff like:

- a creature that was so big it became a biome
- environment-destroying civilisation
- domestication

In this game I'm focusing on one overall species, with selection determining which survive and become the primary.
Parasites will never be Apex, but you can't really get rid of them
Probably easier than trying to juggle half a dozen different branches.

1. Speciate Uchian Handfish Whalegore
1A. Secondary strikers adapted towards spearing smaller prey items as well as personal grooming
1B. Send to Eke Shallows
2. Spikey Crabcore - Bigger
3. Spikey Crabgore - Speciate
3a. Send to Eke Shallows
3b. Adapt towards shallows life, as well as eating Algae with its big wonkey claws.
SS.  Support 2. Doesnt matter if they become spider crabs or  large bodied coconut crab esqued beings I suppose. What matters is that they are basically indestructable gigabeings with very poor prospects of any predator or parasite to get at it in my opinion going to a place that has no near peer equivalent -- except for the newly introduced whalegore.

I really wanted to try for a avatar mind thing but I thought of it too late to populate it early in the evolutionary tree.

Maybe some type of big excel sheet on google could be a acceptable replacement for the turns? The frmat seems easy to replicate on the excel sheet and it might even look good.
