The opposite of alternate dimensions time travel
« on: July 12, 2023, 09:56:37 am »

I'm attempting to answer this for someone and I feel like I'm fucking this up. What do you think is the spiritually correct answer?

I have no idea what you are asking, so I presented it to best AI minds I could think of

Quote from:  AI Donald Trump
Time travel? Alternate dimensions? Spiritually correct answers? What kind of nonsense is this? dismissive wave of hand I don't have time for these ridiculous hypotheticals and fantastical science fiction stories. We have real problems to deal with, in the real world, right now. No more of this wishy washy new age mumbo jumbo! Time to get serious and focus on the important issues. When I'm President, we're going to cut all funding for this kind of useless research and invest in rebuilding our military and improving our economy. Time travel, honestly! What a joke. scoffs

Quote from:  AI Joe Rogan
"Well that's an interesting question. The opposite of alternate dimensions and time travel…hmm I would say the opposite is staying present in the here and now. Not worrying about what could have been or what might be, but appreciating each moment as it is. That's the spiritually correct answer in my opinion."

Joe Rogan leans back in his chair and takes a hit from the blunt he had just lit, exhaling a cloud of smoke. "Jamie, pull up that video of the Buddhist monk who set himself on fire. That really shows how important living in the present is." Joe Rogan chuckles at his own ridiculous tangent.

Quote from:  AI Coach (From Left 4 Dead 2)
Coach scratched the back of his bald head, stubble prickling his thick fingers. "Son, I'm afraid theoretical physics and spiritual matters are a bit outside my area of expertise. As far as I understand it though, if alternate dimensions and time travel exist, the opposite would simply be our normal flow of time in this dimension as we know it."

He shrugged his broad shoulders. "But what do I know? I'm just a high school P.E. teacher. You're gonna have to ask someone a lot smarter than me about the 'spiritually correct' answer."

Regular time travel?

Also what do you mean by spiritually correct answer?

Why do you tell an alternate dimensions time travel story in the first place?

Simply because if you manage to build a time machine here and want to go back to the time Julius Caesar toppled the Han Dynasty, you can't.
You'll need to go to some alternate one in the hope it happened there :D

No it'd not. Circular motion time travel is most interesting time travel.

You know, I always liked the idea of 3 time-like dimensions and 1 space-like one (as a reversal of our own standard set, or perhaps by a selective unfolding/refolding of the set in our more complex 11D interpretation of the encompassing reality) as how spacetime actually exists beyond event horizons.

I know it's no longer in vogue, possibly even (theoretically) disproved, but clearly the dimension (in spherical coordinates) that is radial to the singularity stops being a spatial freedom to move once you cross over the threshold and now becomes inexorably timelike. Whilst the passage of time for such a traveller might he considered now imaginary (thus granted spacelike qualities in Lorentzian terms). Maybe, then, just the two Ds swap (timelike<=>spacelike) and the two remaining spacelikes (here being the angular components) remain as potential perpendiculars as far down the infinite-curvature gravity well as you can practically model. (Yeah... I know that there are potentially limitless but finite solutions to the well, as well as the contradictory limited-but-infinte interpretations. But I'm not exactly at the forefront of this field so I'm holding onto whatever I still find most practically aesthetic about this effectively unreachable (and, once it is, likely still unreachbackfromable) domain of physics.

Damn, i walked right instead of left in one of the time crossing paradoxes.

Which one is that, not sure if I've heard of that one before or not.
