Lore: Rasgrid Raskstafferson, of the Red Night Hall Ravenbeards, was a child of privilege, coming from a long line of craftsdwarves. Yet his talent lay in song more than stonework, and Rasgrid the Bard performed in the elaborately decorated craft-halls and luxurious taverns for generous tips.
One day a terrible beast tore its way through into the fortress's upper levels, and more than all the blood and body parts, he was horrified by the blase reactions of the upper class, the nobility in particular. He explored downward and found that the life of a common dwarf was brutal and short, and a single piece of the exquisite furniture he used to admire might have cost the lives of dozens of dwarves. His songs and his venues changed, singing for the dwarves at the mine face and in the deep taverns, about their lives and their lack of justice.
After leading one too many protest songs in the deep taverns about common dwarves dying to horrors in the caverns so the nobility can sit on golden thrones, Rasgrid the Bard woke up from a drunken stupor to find he had been mysteriously "volunteered" for the arena. Will his basic militia training and a bit of tavern brawling experience keep him alive long enough to adapt?
