First time joining a tournament; looking forward to it!

Name: She Who Is Grey

Race: Grizzly Bear Woman (175)

Skills:
Proficient Dodger (75)
Skilled Striker (40)
Competent Fighter (18)
Competent Armor User (12)

Equipment:
Wolf Leather Armour (12)
Iron Gauntlets (16)

Spent Points: 173
Points Remaining: 2

Lore: Wolves decided that her cub looked delicious, and this lit a rage in She Who Is Grey that burns to this day. She wears armor made from the skin of those she taught a lesson to about the unexpected perils of tasty-looking prey. Hearing that there were wolves and wolf-like creatures at this tournament, she decided to join and preemptively teach them a lesson, just in case any of them were thinking of venturing into her woods. Her cub is rooting for her and hopes she comes back home with plenty of tasty meat from her fallen foes.

Saw this tournament and thought it looked cool!

Name Borgol Bargestone
Race Dwarf
Starting Points 220

Novice Fighter   3
Competent Speardwarf   30
Novice Misc. Object User   3
Skilled Armor User   20
Novice Observer   3
Novice Dodger 5
Competent Shield User   24
Novice Discipline   3
Novice Swimmer   2
Copper Helm   15
Copper Mail Shirt   30
Copper Buckler   37.5
Iron Spear   40
4.5 points remaining

Borgol Bargestone grew up as a plump helmet farmer in her home fort of Dorennoram, 'Diamondrelief'. It was a quiet existence, for the most part. Harvesting plump helmets every day wasn't what Borgol wanted to do though. Ever since a young age, she had a fascination with blood. No one quite knows for sure why. Borgol would stare at blood stains left over from failed goblin siege for hours on end. This is why she was sent to the caverns to farm plump helmets. But one day, after hearing about the tournament and how bloody it was ought to be, Borgol took up militia training. However she was exiled from the fort after a single day due to an overzealous propensity for blood letting. Taking off, our brave dwarf heads to a grand tournament, to bathe in all the blood she can find.

A couple mistakes here
-Competent Spearman costs 30 points, not 18
-Copper Mail Shirt costs 30 points, not 48

Your current loadout works, with 9.5 points left over. Let us know if this is ok, or if you want to revise your build. :>

Questions:
- Are the listed animal people the only animal people that we can choose from?
- Why does silver have a x3 material cost, which is greater than iron?
- Is divine metal not allowed?
- Are bone and shell not allowed? This seems very odd.

Balance concern:
- Dwarves are size 60 and have access to 220 points.
Whereas Gorlaks are size 50 and have access to only 215 points, with the added disadvantage of being unable to equip chest armor.
Whats up with that?

Checks out with 0.5 points remaining. Do you want to change the Adequate Spearman into an Adequate Pikeman skill? They cost the same.

Questions:

-As long an an animal race isn't larger than size 300, cannot breathe fire, and aren't venomous, you can choose any animal man race you want. Even ones not present on the document. Another exception would be races like Iron Men that grant the fighter a big advantage in combat over others (in this case, due to being made out of iron). Generally most races are accepted though, so there's lot to choose from.
-Silver is more expensive than Iron due to being a superior material for blunt weapons.
-Bone and Shell items are not available in the default Arena Mode sadly.
-Divine metal is not allowed at the moment.
-It was decided that since Gorlacks cannot equip chest armor, they do not need to purchase it. This grants them a bit of an edge in terms of purchasing power over other races, so they were dinged a few points to compensate.

Hope this clears things up. Let me or Mkhos know if you have any more questions :>

Plump helmet men are [arena_restricted] in base vanilla, yeah?
So I'm unable to elect one as my champion, correct?

Also that bit about silver is a bit of a misnomer. The differences are negligible. And actually, in most circumstances, which pertain to the mass and skill of the creature swinging the object, you're ever so slightly better off using copper for blunt weapons.

Can you spawn bogeymen in arena?

I thought they were procedurally generated and have base skills which would make them hard to balance for a gladiator tournament. I may be wrong.

Area restricted is a simple tag to remove that we have done in the past. Previous years have seen Plump Helmet Men enter. The science on blunt weapon performance has been contradictory, and so we will choose to go with the safer option.

While bogeyman are not explicitly banned, their combination of transforming powers, no stun, no pain, and no exertion makes them an unfair competitor in the arena. In this case, we are going to exercise our right to decline races as we see fit, so your gladiator is not able to be approved.

Name: Canxio

Race: Human

Equipment:
Steel Battle Axe (-96)
Leather Helm (-6)

Skills:
Competent Fighter (-18)
Skilled Axeman (-60)
Competent Dodger (-30)

SPENT: 210
LEFTOVER: 0

Backstory: Canxio was a warrior who swore vengeance on his father's killer, however after finding out the person he swore to kill died of eyelid cancer he lost all interest in fighting.

Throughout the years he's been living off his savings and selling his possessions for booze money, only keeping his trusty Steel Axe as a reminder of his past as he spends most of his days as a spectator in the arena trying to rekindle the flame that was once inside him.

During the 7th tournament his flame was rekindled, watching Papi Penetrator win the tournament with so much ease made him feel alive again, he found his new rival, and so, Canxio joined the tournament with the goal of finding his true rival or, at the very least, having one last honorable fight.

Their body transformation removes no stun, no pain, and no exertion, by virtue of being a body transformation.

In spirit of good fun, I'm going to have to attempt to appeal this 'being inclined toward disallowing a creature.'

Bogeymen are eligible to transform into most of the non-vermin, and non-under_swim creatures, and as such, the RNG is weighted far more toward sticking me with something awful or underwhelming, like a rhesus masque or a penguin, then it is toward landing me with a giant elephant during a round.

To top things off, I have zero equipment! Canxio's character, posted above this post, is using a steel battle axe. What is a penguin going to do against THAT?!

The reality is, I will most likely lose in round 1. I might not, but would I really be so lucky as to make it to round 2 or even 3? And if this doesn't meet the requirements for embracing the spirit of the tournament, then I got nothin'.
