You're going to need a larger bid than that Saint. Any number of ships could pay that fee.

I'd suggest setting a base price MMM. Then bids can be made.

The bird cost me 2s and could save someone at minimum 0.32s in repairs(that is full repairs for 1 share). So I am thinking...

MINIMUM BID ON THE BIRD: 0.5s!

More seriously, willing to take that up if the rest of the shipowners are on my ship. After all... It's 0.05 per share~ More than cheep enough.

Didn't think of that... I suppose that would be fine, was mostly thinking 1 company would rent it per trip for what ever ship they wanted(if you want to charge your fellow ship owners that is on you) :)

I doubt it would be enough, but 1.4s?
Another share gives you an extra 0.34, so you'd make 1.36s next turn, that assumes you don't change the price this turn so it applies next turn. At 1.5s from each of the two ships, 3.0s, you'd end up making 0.42s from each share, 1.68s from your total share.

Hm, with the share I have I mostly negate the cost of paying to use the charts right now. Without that I'm paying 0.36s every 3 turns, and I suspect the Lead Catfish will change route soon, which would double that for me to 0.72s. Or 0.45s and 0.9s after the proposed change to 1.5s.

Yeah, not 100% on the math atm, but I think I'd be losing out pretty big if I sold at 1.4s this or next turn. Or any turn. Maybe if I were more desperate for immediate funds.

Not opposed, are going on a dangerous route.

Don't suppose a full or partial refund if your magic dove fails to prevent damages is in the cards?

Probably not since that likely means the Dove dies too.

I still want to change the cost to 1.5 though. Since the Crustacean is likely to also go the route. That's 0.51s to 0.64s for you.
Not counting our own charges anyway. A .13 increase isn't much, but it's something. (Though mine becomes nearly a .4 increase.)

If you vote with me I'll give you 0.1s to sweeten the deal, how about that? bribes

Hm, bribes are tempting, but 0.1s doesn't really cover the increased cost I'd end up paying. How about 0.3s?

I get a small buff this turn to offset the new costs, and you aren't really losing money from it, and from then on you'd continue to reap the benefits.

No refunds. If the bird get lost or killed there is a 0.25s fine.

Haha, so in addition to losing the ship, which is what would probably have to happen for your bird to fly the coop, you'd have the gall to demand more of us?

But if your bird just fails to prevent damages after we paid it to do exactly that, we're entitled to no compensation? You're a con-artist through and through if you want it both ways. :P

I suppose as a minor shareholder you're more affected by the costs. The more ship shares you have, the more you're affected.

You would get 0.64 from three ships, but pay 0.9 for 6 shares. A 0.26 deficit.
Right now you get 0.51 from three ships, and pay 0.72 for 6 shares. A 0.21 deficit...

Hmm.. I feel like that's fundamentally wrong in this system. You shouldn't be losing money from the NRC simply cause more of your money is invested in ships.

Quote from: NRC Shareholder Price Amendment
In recognition for the values of capitalism, and under study of the prices involved, the Shareholders shall no longer have to pay their part of the price for the Shares they own, should they not control a majority of the Ship's Shares. As such, when calculating prices such as [1.0] where they control 5 shares in a Ship, 0.5 shall not be paid. This shall increase the profits of those with less shares in the NRC and equalize ownership. In recognition of repair and upkeep clauses, this shall act as if they have paid their part for the price of the Chart loan.
In addition, from Turn 9 onward the price of Northland charts will change from 1.2s to 1.5s.
- Corsairs Incorporated (3 Shares)

Nuke can do the math. But this should equalize things for you? Less profit for us, but eh. Better than you losing money just from having higher stakes in ships. So long as you don't own the majority, it's fine.

Rather than being unfair to other shareholders, shareholders shouldn't be passively penalized for having more shares than they have in the NRC. They're not making money from it (Even if they are voiding 0.15 of the current costs from being part of the contract and having 3 shares in a ship). In case you have majority control, then yeah, you pay the price to the rest of the shareholders. But not when you don't. That just encourages lower prices and less profit overall. Though that proves the point of the original, the terror of capitalism when kickbacks end up introduced.

What you are proposing is a fundamental change to the nature of the contract to benefit those with fewer shares. Which, no, is not happening. Should we change ship contracts so that people with only 1 share get a disproportionate amount of cargo too?

The price change I don't object to. Not that it would matter if I did, since you only need a majority.

While I'd like to say it is an issue of pricing, thus requires only a majority, feels sketchy at best? I'd have to go dig up the contract, but I don't think it allows discounts.

That said, this is a disingenuous comparison and you know it. Making shareholders pay in the first place chiefly serves to siphon money from the lessor shareholders.

And you could have at least let me have that bribe. :'(

I do appreciate the thought though Tric, but I guess I have to settle for just offsetting most of my loss. Unless you feel like messing with the price until Nuke is feeling more cooperative.
