This is the current signed contract that I see:
Quote from: Crazy Aywen contract
The undersigned agree to share-based joint ownership of a trading vessel to be named "Crazy Aywen", which shall initially traverse the NearEastlands route.
Each investor receives shares equal to the number of Sovereigns they contribute. 10 shares are available. Each share entitles the holder to 1/10th of the goods delivered by the Crazy Aywen upon returning to harbor. Each share also requires the holder to pay 1/10th of any costs incurred in the regular operation of the vessel (eg repairs), failure to pay resulting in shares being seized and auctioned, with proceeds first used to cover the repairs and, should any money remain, returned to the former shareholder.
Crazy Aywen will automatically be sent to the highest paying route (measured in sovereigns/turn) available to it's shareholders.
Any changes to the Crazy Aywen operations require a majority of shares to agree. Any changes to this contract require all shares to agree.

Signed,
-Aywen Ayes for 5s
-Monkey Corp for 2s

There's a more recent version of that contract in literally the previous post.

ACTACTACT: on behalf of the signatories of the Crazy Aywen contract, purchase the ship Crazy Aywen, and set it to sail for NearEastlands.

I'm not really mad at losing out on that share really. But sure, I'll take that deal.
Oh yeah, didn't think you were like, actually mad, or anything. Just felt semi-altruistic.

This is the current signed contract that I see:
I guess I could have drawn more attention to my purchase then.

Turn in 24 hours if things work out and 48 if work gets in the way
You may request an extension if you provide a sensible reason

Turn 3
╚═━┈┈━═╝

Late Spring Year 1
TURNTURNTURN
Hear Ye Hear Ye! The queen has christened a new vessel in the harbour! The Crazy Aywen and her crew sets sail for NearEastlands immediately.

20 Sand Sold to Market. A great influx of sand has been snapped up by the market! The nearly defunct glass blowing industry in particular has benefitted greatly from the high quality product. Among the nobility, bordered up openings from the Dark Times are slowly being replaced by glass windows once more, and a couple trendsetters have started wearing small glass bead jewellery. It seems the product has not yet filtered down to the peasantry.

Prices have dropped from the sudden supply, while industries scramble to increase their outdated methods of production.

In other news, The Northern Route Co-operative has fully funded Ferdinand's exploration venture, in exchange for exclusivity of all charts produced. All other bidders were fully refunded. The bobbing feather of Ferdinand Hiptapamoose Rochester was seen disappearing over the horizon to the North in his vessel in the early hours of the morning. He did throw the biggest party of the decade honouring his not-yet achievements before he left. There is some suspicion his funding may partly have gone to provisions and may partly have funded the celebration. Unfortunately, Ferdinand could not be reached for comment as he was far from the Capitol by noon. The populace waits with bated breath for his return with tales of far off lands and what strange goods hey may produce!

As everyone knows, the only real wildlife left around the Capitol are belligerent seagulls and an over-abundance of pigeons. During the Dark Times, the seagulls were found too aggressive to eat and the pigeons rampant with disease. Hence the propogation of the two species despite numerous attempts at extermination. This morning, however, the Capitol's rumour mill is whirling: a Snow White Dove has been spotted haunting the chimney stacks on misty mornings. The Queen is known to have taken a liking to the creature, so the stories say. Surely the one who found it would be granted good luck.

By late afternoon a number of ambitious Hunters have re-opened their doors in the hopes of getting new business.

Prices
Sand - 0.48 Sovereigns per Unit [-0.03]

Ship - 10 Sovereigns per Ship [carries 10 units]

Sacred Animals roaming Free - Unacceptable!
The Snow White Dove haunts the Capitol on Misty Mornings. Cost to Hunt: 3 Sovereigns per Hunter hired.

Ships & Voyages
Glowing Manta set sail to NearEastland and will return end of Early Summer Year 1 with a cargo of Sand.
Audacious Crustaceous set sail to NearEastland and will return end of Early Summer Year 1 with a cargo of Sand.
Crazy Aywen set sail to NearEastland and will return end of Early Summer Year 1 with a cargo of Sand.

Destinations
NearEastland - It takes 2 Turns to travel here. Ships return with Sand.

Ports
The Great and Regal Capitol!! Hear Hear!!

New Mechanics

Sacred Animals:
Every Port Town is known for a Sacred Animal that grant bonuses when acquired and placed on a ship. Once successfully caught, the Sacred Animal cannot be hunted again for some time. Hunting an animal has a chance to fail, but the more Hunters on the prowl at once in one area, the more likely it is a Hunter will succeed. You can discover Sacred Animals by hiring a Hunter with ACTACTACT.

The exact nature of the bonuses granted by the Sacred Animal will not be known to you until a successful hunt is completed. But details of it's boons may be gleaned from rumours circulating about it.

Merchants tend to remain in the Capitol rather then risking their lives on far flung voyages. So Merchants can employ local Hunters to hunt animals in their stead in various ports around the world. Hunting dangerous animals may incur a greater cost, risk and time.

Is there a reason the Glowing Manta didn't continue the trips? I don't think we changed any scheduling for it's destination?

Happy to update it but I didn't see an ACTACTACT launch? If the contract intends it to automatically launch each time I'd like it to be either updated in a contract to be explicitly mentioned or ACTACTACT: launch to X unless stated otherwise

Can we retroactive? And don't think...

Checks paperwork.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The relevant page. Both sides says it sails the Neareastlands route initially. Correction, "which shall initially traverse the NearEastlands route". Nothing about it stopping operations. In either contract. Otherwise someone could just deny the route by not agreeing to set sail. Right now it's locked in.

Ah, I assumed ships would keep sailing a route automatically. Could we retconjurate the action? There's no sensible reason to keep it in port.

I'll update it, it's more a sign of my inexperience running this style game. Sorry folks! Consider the Glowing Manta on its way to NearEastland!

Moving on, will the chart contract be paid afterward if we shareholders agree to do so? I suppose the price would be 1/10 a share of the actual cost for the contract. We'd probably need Wares-To-Sell Corp to agree to the trip but being able to pay the cost afterward should be good incentive? Also a question on if to offer that to a ship with only a single shareholder on it.

We'd need majority approval to change the destination, but that shouldn't be too hard to get, given we (NRC) hold a majority of Manta shares already. I would suggest that chart fees count as the cost of regular operation, although it just occurred to me that that could be used to screw over other investors, since we (NRC) could set the cost to something extortionately high, then vote to pay it, leaving TCK with the choice of paying way too much or having his shares seized. Amusing as that would be, it was not my intention, so I'm going to propose a change to the contract that makes it clear that decisions that would impose an optional cost can be vetoed.

Quote
Also a question on if to offer that to a ship with only a single shareholder on it.
I see no reason why not to offer a sole-proprietor-ship the same terms as anyone else.

Anyway. Here's the current Glowing Manta contract:
Quote from: Glowing Manta contract
The undersigned agree to share-based joint ownership of a trading vessel to be named "Glowing Manta", which shall initially traverse the NearEastlands route.
Each investor receives shares equal to the number of Sovereigns they contribute. 10 shares are available. Each share entitles the holder to 1/10th of the goods delivered by the Glowing Manta upon returning to harbour. Each share also requires the holder to pay 1/10th of any costs incurred in the regular operation of the vessel (eg repairs), failure to pay resulting in shares being seized and auctioned, with proceeds paid out to remaining shareholders.
Any changes to the Glowing Manta's operations require a majority of shares to agree. Any changes to this contract require all shares to agree.

Signed,
-Radiant Trading for 2s
-Wares-To-Sell Corp for 3s
-Corsairs Incorporated for 3s
-Fairchild Enterprises 2s
And here is my proposed amendment:
Quote from: Glowing Manta amendment
Adding:
"Any decision that would impose an optional cost (eg chart fees) may be vetoed by any shareholder. A shareholder who has gone AWOL does not automatically veto."
And changing:
"failure to pay resulting in shares being seized and auctioned, with proceeds paid out to remaining shareholders."
to:
"failure to pay resulting in shares being seized and auctioned, with proceeds first used to cover the costs and, should any money remain, returned to the former shareholder."

Signed,
-Radiant Trading: YES
-Wares-To-Sell Corp:
-Corsairs Incorporated:
-Fairchild Enterprises:

Well, I don't plan on supporting an unreasonable price hike to force them out. As you claim to feel the same, we don't have to worry about that.

I could agree for the peace of mind I guess, but I don't think I can support giving that much power over our decision making to anyone who may happen upon a single share of the Glowing Manta in the future. Also less than keen about what feels like rewarding someone for failing to meet their obligations to the ship.

Those are fair points, actually. I'll give it some more thought, maybe there's some way of threading the needle. For now, though, let's keep it as is.
