The perils of not having money. Someone who owned their own ship could make out like bandits from the first trip. I'd suggest those of the NRC revise their contract for this good to start with. Perhaps 1.5 for this particular journey, rather than the current 0.75. (That comes to 0.15 a share for operating costs.)
I'm fine with the current pricing at this moment.

Heads up Canadian Kitten I think you had an additional 0.03 leftover on page 4?

Oh shoot, thanks for the catch!
It's always the pennies that slip past me

I think you've forgot to subtract the 1.1s you put towards the Lead Catfish?

Quote from: Northern Route Cooperative
The undersigned agree to share-based joint ownership of exclusive charts, to be acquired from Ferdinand Hiptapamoose Rochester.
Each investor receives shares equal to the number of half-Sovereigns they contribute. 7 shares are available. Each share entitles the holder to 1/[number of shares] of the income generated by renting out the charts. In the event that this results in per-share payouts in less than 0.01s fractions, payouts will be rounded down to the nearest 0.01 fraction, and the remnant held by the NRC until the next payout occurs.

Once all shares are sold, a bid will be placed for the charts. Should the NRC be outbid, additional shares may be sold in order to raise the bid, with the agreement of a majority of shares.
Should a majority of shares vote not to raise the bid, all shares will be refunded and this contract ended.
In the event that funds remain after the bid has been won, these shall be distributed to shareholders as if they were income generated by the charts.

When the charts are acquired, the NRC will offer these to any interested party for an initial price of (0.25xVoyage Distance) Sovereigns per journey (eg if the new location is a 4-turn journey, the price would be 1s). Shareholders will not receive a discount, since they already receive a proportional cut of income, so giving them a discount on top of that would be unfair to other shareholders.
The rental price may be modified, with the agreement of a majority of shares. Price changes only take effect in subsequent turns (so there's no confusion if someone rents the charts early in a turn only for the price to be changed).

Changes to this contract require all shareholders to agree.

Signed,
-Radiant Trading for 1.5s (3 shares)
-Corsair Incorporated for 1.5(3 shares)
-Fairchild Enterprises for 0.5 (1 share)
Well, okay then.
(Kitten signed after Maxine, so Maxine takes it. First Come First Served)
ACTACTACT: Northern Route Cooperative bids 3.5s for exclusive charts.

As noted, would like to discuss cost change, at least for the first wave. Once the price drops below 0.8 we can discuss reducing it back.

I'll grant you that a 3-turn trip yielding 10s is more profitable than I anticipated, which does make 0.75s seem rather cheap. 1.5s is maybe a bit high, though. 1.2s seems fair to me.

Quote from: NRC Price Change Vote
Change the price of Northland charts from 0.75s to 1.2s.
Price change to take effect from Turn 6 onwards.

I might suggest 1.4. It splits into seven easily. 0.6 per share. Compared to the accounting mess of 0.514285714 1.2 generates.

Something easy to pass out.

In other words, 1.2s would pay out 0.17s per share, with the remaining 0.01s held by the NRC until the next payout.

(Also how on earth did you get to 1.4/7=0.6?)

Early morning rush and calculating my share, sorry.
Well, if Fairchild agrees I have no problem with it. I just hate loose numbers.

I'd rather leave things as they are, but it'd be 1.2 if I have to pick one. Is slightly messier, which I do hate, but I gain nothing from raising the price.

Turn 6
╚═━┈┈━═╝

Late Summer Year 1
TURNTURNTURN

The Glowing Manta and Audacious Crustaceous pulled into port on time today, but no sign of the Crazy Awen or the new Lead Catfish that morning. Crew of the Audacious Crustaceous whispered they witnessed the forming of a st°rm on the horizon before they arrived at NearEastland. The news was spreading round the Capitol like wildfire by the afternoon - are the st°rms back? Do the gods curse us? The Captain of the Audacious Crustaceous swears up and down it did not look supernatural in nature. By 1pm the peasantry were blaming the bad luck on the Queen for failing to host a traditional naming ceremony for the new ship. By evening the words 'by me White Dove' had become a cuss, given her proclamation is apparently why the ceremony did not go ahead on time.

A worse for wear pair of ships docked safely in the harbour that night. Both the Crazy Awen and the Lead Catfish's crew lamented the st°rm, with conflicting accounts of whether it was supernatural or not. Alas, the Capitol was so awash with outlandish rumours by morning it is nearly impossible to determine the truth. Hypothesising on the nature of what happened is a current popular pastime. Both ships require moderate repairs, though with the current price of lumber it would be no surprise if only the most barebones of repairs are made.

Speaking of, the cost of lumber continues to skyrocket as the Capitol's constructions slow to a crawl. The Crown now has auditors operating in the city to monitor the use of the good and determine whether a project is authorised. The shipyard has been granted an exemption and may continue to operate unimpeded for the Good of the Capitol, but that unfortunately does not reflect on lumber costs which have skyrocketed to an eyewatering 12 Sovereigns per ship. In the meantime, a wave of crime has swept through the city as particular choice beams and boards are stolen from right under people's noses. The Queen's Dove pub collapsed in the wee hours of the morning, locals report a quiet sawing sound coming from the property.

The slowing of new buildings going up has paradoxically led to a small bump in demand for sand. Glassblowers have an opportunity to improve their processes and catch up on their orders.

Prices
Sand - 0.46 Sovereigns per Unit [+0.01]
Preserved Meats - 1 Sovereign per Unit

Ship - 12 Sovereigns per Ship [carries 10 units]

Sacred Animals roaming Free - Unacceptable!
The Snow White Dove haunts the Capitol on Misty Mornings. Cost to Hunt: 3 Sovereigns per Hunter hired, takes 1 turn until results are clear.

Ships & Voyages
1. The Glowing Manta is docked with 10 Sand.
2. The Audacious Crustaceous is docked with 10 Sand.
3. The Crazy Aywen has sustained damage and requires 3.2 sovereigns to fully repair or 1.2 Sovereign to remain seaworthy. It is docked with a cargo of 10 Sand. It can be sent back out this turn (current destination NearEastland).
4. The Lead Catfish has sustained damage and requires 3.2 sovereigns to fully repair or 1.2 Sovereign to remain seaworthy. It is docked with a cargo of 10 Sand. It can be sent back out this turn (current destination NearEastland).

Destinations from the Capitol
NearEastland - It takes 2 Turns to travel here. Ships return with Sand. (Public Charts)
Northland - It takes 3 Turns to travel here. Ships return with Preserved Meats. (Exclusive Charts)

Ports
The Great and Regal Capitol!! Hear Hear!!

New Mechanics
Ship auto-voyage and Route order: To make it official: Your ships will automatically leave port following their previous route unless the route is changed via ACTACTACT (or according to your contracted terms, which take precedent).

Ships operating on automatic will default to the Roster order presented in the Turn under Ships and Voyages. The current order is below:
Glowing Manta, Audacious Crustaceous, Crazy Ayen, Lead Catfish.
Following this example, Glowing Manta leaves port first and Lead Catfish last. If a storm hit later in the day, Glowing Manta may be unaffected but Lead Catfish may be caught out.

This is more for later, but there may be instances where you wish to change the launch order: such as if you have information that suggests a specific position is safer or that certain routes are dangerous at particular times, or if you have items that benefit you in certain positions. If you would like to change your turn order then you may use ACTACTACT to launch your ships. Ships launched using ACTACTACT will launch first in chronological order, then automatic ships will be launched in roster order after all ACTACTACT ships have been processed.

ACTACTACT positions do not roll over between turns. Should contracts be made between companies/merchants for Roster placement I will honour them and adjust roster positions accordingly. Remember that ships above you in the Roster may be on different routes to you - only ships going in the same direction will affect your position. There are situations where ships may be on different routes but travelling in the same direction.

This doesn't apply if you are the only ship on a route.

Spoiler: Further Explaination (click to show/hide)

Event: The Hunt is On!
Reward: 2 Royal Favour
Goal: Capture the Snow White Dove
Duration: this condition is active for the next 2 turns, ending in Early Autumn with a celebration.
Additionally: The Queen will reimburse 30% of the cost of each Hunter hired in the next 3 months. The cost shall be reimbursed in Early Autumn after the ceremony. This can be applied to multiple Hunters - so if a Merchant or Company spent 9s on Hunters, they would receive 3s back.

Crazy Aywen must switch route to Northland, as per its charter.
Therefore every shareholder must contribute 0.44/share to fully repair the ship and send it there.
ACTACTACT: Sell 5 sand for 2.3 sovereigns. Pay 1.6 sovereigns for repairs of Crazy Aywen. Change destination to Northalnd.

Fine fine print. Though nothing says full repairs are needed. ;)

Our contract is for anyone I believe. All you need to do is pay the current price.
Eh.

Quote from: Generic Chart Contract
Crazy Aywen shall make use of the NRC's Charts to change their Route, sailing to Northland for Preserved Meats.
0.12 must be paid for each stock owned to the NRC, for a total of 1.2s each trip. Otherwise this contract becomes void.
When the NRC Changes the Price, it is reflected on this Contract.
