Equipping (thick?) artifact weapons
« on: June 14, 2023, 08:44:22 pm »

Hello all, this is my first post here. I've searched the wiki, here, and reddit, and I have not found an answer.
My dwarves found an artifact spear on our second sortie into the caverns.
Here is the artifact:

**My image link didn't work. Essentially, the artifact is named "Lethariathida", weighs <1, value: 8000*?, desc: "This is a thick flickering metal spear. All craftsmanship is of the highest quality."

I thought getting my militia commander to equip this would be as easy as telling the commander to equip a flickering metal spear as the custom uniform. However, that doesn't seem to work.

I thought perhaps it had something to do with the "thick" descriptor, but I can't find any info on what that means or if it makes a difference for my dwarves.

Any ideas?

Though I don't know why you can't set it as equipment.

Ironblood didn't use an axe because he needed it. He used it to be kind. And right now he wasn't being kind.

Instead of telling him to equip a thick metal spear, could you tell him to equip specific weapon, and then find that spear by name on the list?

This should work. If it doesn't show up in that list, check to see if it got Forbidden somehow, and unforbid it.

"Thick" is a procedurally generated variant weapon like "wavy" or others, it shouldn't make a weapon unusable.
