The right hand swings towards the raging fire, spraying a large amount of water onto it, extinguishing it swiftly. Those empty buckets get tossed towards the tavern so they can get refilled later before he takes one of the buckets in his left hand with the now-free right hand, splashing the remaining cinder and the animated flames.

You could perhaps forgive Jonathan for taking so long to react to the mess outside. After all, the shock he experienced inside the tavern was nothing compared to what he saw as he stepped out of it. Walking skeletons, living flames, magic floating eyes, and actual dark magic... it was a bit overstimulating, all at once.

Still, on seeing the others leap into action, his mind came to the decision to file that mess aside for now to be reviewed at another, calmer, time.

He ran over to Bernhard, seeing the man rather significantly injured by the... later.


"Be careful, man!" he scolded, as he pulled some bandages out of his pocket and worked to stem the bleeding, "Running off heroically sounds all well and good, but you're no use to your town as just another grave to mourn."

As his hand pressed against Bernhard, he suddenly felt a wave of nausea pass through him, and even as it lifted, his body felt... strangely heavy.

Enemy Phase

The vile being notices the approaching ragtag bunch of fighters and spellcasters, plus the foreign mortician, and turns towards them. Upon closer inspection, you notice that his robe isn't unlike those of what priests would wear in this region, albeit darkened and stained red.
"You who act in accordance to the will of humans."
He pulls back the hood of his cowl. You see the face of a man of venerable age, what little remains of his hair being combed over, a peaceful smile on his lips. Barry recognizes him as Father Lukan, the local priest of Pazin. But when he opens his mouth to speak, violet smoke extrudes from his mouth, destroying the serene impression.
"These are the End Times, my chilren, my flock. But fear not, all will be well if you don't fight against what is unavoidable. The Lord is the king of kings and the Sanguine Overlord is his judge of judges. Embrace eschatology, my children, my flock. My dear Baurus, let me guide you as I have always done so."

Relic in hand and a prayer on his lips, Amadeo approaches Lukan, fearless. He knows the Devil is at his heart a coward, and his slaves are rarely better. Softening the protections of dark magic, such that the other hunters can strike true, should suffice.

Barry took out a bottle of medicine from his pouch and began downing it, before suddenly rushing the traitor, enraged.

With glowing hands, the animated dead was dealt with swiftly. The bones collapse into a pile, but Jahid can see thin strands of macabre energy seeping from the Necromancer into said pile. Soon enough, his gut feeling states, it would rise again unless interrupted. For now, he could only trust his newfound allies.

The rhetorical rebuttal was strong enough to repel the effect of Amadeo's prayer, but with faith strong and unwavering, it also protected him from the surge of vile energy flung at him.

Perhaps it was more fitting to let fists do the talking in this case. After a swig from his pouch, Barry lets his anger speak volumes. With each furious punch, the corrupted priest exhales large amounts of smoke and the necromancer could barely remain standing.
While Barry was tipsy, he definitely noticed something strange. It was as if he was striking a bag of flour...

Sasaki moves to H6 and fires a brace of pistols at the Necromancer.

Sasaki aims and shoots, leaving holes behind in the robe... but the same robe seems to hide a gangly figure, as no shot met their mark. In response, without giving Sasaki the respect of facing him, the priest raises an arm in his general direction and launches a blast of dark power, knocking the man from the land of the rising sun onto his knees with sheer force.
But by gathering his willpower and relying on his training and instincts, he lines up another barrage and strikes true, spraying not blood, but dust across the road. Not quite the killing blow, but a gaping hole in where he believes the priest's chest is located, large amounts of sinister smoke wafting out of it carried by the wind. Now the priest turns his hooded head in Sasaki's direction.

"Soon you will also be blessed by my hand, oriental fighter."

His words were cut short as the raven descends and Bärbel cleaves the priest's head in two, large amounts of smoke ejecting into the sky but away from her. The body collapses and before it even reaches the ground, only the robe remains, the body scattered into dust.

Then, with an anguished scream, the smoke quickly vanishes into nothingness and things slowly become calm on your side, with the fires getting under control around you. On the priest's robe, the twisted colors start to faint already.

The Darkforce dissipates. Blightfog can now be entered!

Victory Condition: Activate Boss Mode and defeat the Boss hiding in the Blightfog.

• Introducing the Blightfog mechanic: When a player character including Vincenza or Leo end their move in a Blightfog-covered tile, as in any of the tiles in column AK or AL on this map, the map changes completely, all enemies on the map are removed (without giving EXP) and players are repositioned as the Boss approaches. This is called Boss Mode. Boss Modes starts with a new Player Phase as if no one has moved this turn, but the Boss always acts first when activating Boss Mode, so come prepared.
• The Elite Necromancer on the left-hand has the Darkforce special. As long as an enemy unit with Darkforce is alive on the map, Blightfog becomes impassable (and thus you cannot activate Boss Mode). Darkforce units may also have interactions with other units; For example, the Skeleton Warriors will reanimate again and again until the Necromancer is dealt with.
• Fire tiles count as impassable terrain. Characters may spend a main action to extinguish an adjacent fire tile. The excess water also instantly defeats Animated Flames adjacent to the extinguished fire tile, granting EXP as normal.
• Palisades like those on U5 and W6 count as Forest-style defensive terrain (2 MOV to enter, 4 MOV to enter if mounted, +1 DR, +15 Evade). Skeleton Warriors won't enter Palisades, Animated Fires can convert them into a fire tile by ending their turn on one.
