Adventure Mode: Resizing clothing and armor

Finding clothing and armor is a big problem in adventure mode. Especially when you play animal people, which I like to do. I assume that future updates will introduce ways to craft or buy stuff but a quick solution for now would be to allow players to resize clothing and armor they find.

This would probably be better as part of DFHack than DF itself.

I think you should be able to order from the already existing shops for clothes and armor in human towns. I guess from dwarven sites as well, maybe you could buy from the trader at the trade depot.

Like you click "order" and then you get much the same menu as in a workshop in fort mode, where you can choose size plus choose between the materials avalable in the shop.

As an added benefit it would create a use for money and a use for being in a good standing in a site, so there's some extra stuff to do right there. The first mini-mission would be to make money for a nice set of armor.

Maybe add the ability to “commission” custom made armour to be made for your size at forges, on top of the ability to buy already made equipment? It would cost more of course.

If you're so sure that you're gonna end up killing all of dwarven civilization, why not make a statue depicting 2147483647 dead dwarves, all of which are burning? Name it something good, like Deaddead the Dead Dead Dead-Dead of Dying. Just put it in the main hall or something, as a grim reminder that they're all gonna die.

Most of this already exists in a modded capacity of using reactions to basically remake the original object again by type in a very reaction heavy and laborious way. In metalwear, its easy enough to melt it down and re-cast it by choosing the specific individual to use the forge (for steam ver 50., or in 47.05 using managers to assign a master to the workshop), as it will always make armor suited to their size.

I guess that would mean, marking something to be reconstituted (Merriam Webster Dictionary: reconstituted; reconstituting. : to constitute again or anew.) could be similar to the melting job if its given a similar status of condition with some extra steps like spending material. Which case you could probably spend all day reforging goblinite to refine skills into well designed dwarvenwear, and risk the wrath of creators of masterworks by prising off inlaid decorations and deface the object by lowering its base quality with unskilled meddling.
