Hard drugs are likely to cause the demise of the state. If they are legalised, they will engender a state sponsored psychosis. If they are criminalised the state will collapse domestically through rampant crime and police corruption. Crime because addicts associate their high with crime, so crime as good, it's a rare criminal who isn't a drug addict. Corruption because police are reluctant to enforce (political) drug laws, developing a sympathy with the criminal, and so being more prone to overlook other crimes. Either way the end is near.
The solution is to continue to criminalise synthetic drugs, and legalise their organic analogues. We are biological creatures and we haven't evolved to metabolise synthetics. Like microplastics break down into toxins in fish, and excessive junk food leads to obesity, excessive drugs lead to derangement. All over-abuse of psychoactive drugs results in psychosis, the experience of psychoactive drugs is an unconscious process, and the conscious mind needs time to catch up to reality. The time needed is longer with synthetics, and may be forever. With organic drugs the psychosis is only temporary, but when you isolate molecules of a plant chemically, the effect is artificial. If you give anyone pure THC, they will be in a psychosis, but most marijuana users don't develop schizophrenia.
Ephedra, opium and coca should be available with a prescription at pharmacies. Preparations of opium were available in drug stores last century, coca was in Coca-Cola, and China has been using ephedra for thousands of years.

That's kiiinda what they're arguing for, though. The thing being advocated for is banning any drugs which are chemically synthesized and legalizing any drug which comes from a plant. Which, I'm no expert, sounds impossible to enforce because once it's been purified or whatever, it's... it's the same chemical.

That's the next best thing, I believe the natural users would have a stabilising effect on the junk users. Like barley malt will convert a certain amount of unmalted barley to yeast digestible sugar.

Technology comes from exploiting nature, and you're reliant on technology (agriculture, manufactured goods, information/data), hence you're reliant on nature.
