You use your keen eye to examine the battlefield. The arena is bare save for the viscera that remains from the day's earlier entertainment.
In the moments you take to quickly look around the arena, Hathram has already largely closed the gap between The Inquisitor and himself. Sand seems to "soak" up his body with each step until the giant of a man is encased in earthen armor. He launches himself into the air with a geyser of sand erupting to push him upward, intent on striking The Inquisitor with a rock-solid fist aided by gravity.
Carter has likewise gone on a full offensive, and is rapid-firing arcane bolts at The Inquisitor. These low energy bolts strike The Inquisitor squarely, but seem to be absorbed by his aura more than anything else.
Talys has moved around to get to The Inquisitor's left flank and is channeling for a more powerful spell. Electricity is already coursing through her body and visibly discharging into the ground at her feet.
But The Inquisitor, unlike yourself, hasn't stopped to look around and is actively defending himself. The Inquisitor raises a palm and appears to catch one of Carter's arcane bolts. He "crushes" it and as the magical projectile shatters The Inquisitor's aura lashes out to Carter. It pierces his own aura, and Carter is immediately paralyzed and rises into the air to serve as a conduit and battery for The Inquisitor. Simultaneously, The Inquisitor thrusts his ruby longsword toward the airborne Hathram. You see The Inquisitor's aura expand and envelop the blade before a pitch black beam erupts from it. Hathram's earthen armor disintegrates off of his body immediately, and he plummets back to the sands. You see, or rather don't see, that Hathram's aura has been completely drained.
As The Inquisitor takes a few steps to Hathram and raises his sword, you realize that you might actually be able to use the environment to your advantage. A relatively simple burst of arcane force could kick up enough sand to interfere with The Inquisitor's impending attack while also potentially breaking his concentration on the link to Carter. Success isn't necessarily guaranteed though, and you
might have better chances focusing on one of your allies - or yourself.
