Ferum set out into the warm jungle. Just another foray, if not for the ten of ten young men and women following him. The maps are incomplete and the world ripe. More preparation could have been made, but nogrug wants to wait for their deathbed before seeing the world. And that's not what the Gruggi elected him for. But no more risks than that. These aren't his lives to be spent, they are the sons and daughters of the Gruggi. Ferum would run an orderly summer camp, fix the charts, and bring them back home having maybe learned a thing or two.

Re: Age of Calamity and Regrowth: Game Thread, Turn 3. Famine

Random bad event: Famine!
Rolling severity: Mild.

One night, a wash of colors spreads across the land in a glowing fog, slowly flowing south and lingering for days before it starts to clear up. It itches when it touches bare skin, but seems to be mostly harmless to animals. It does damage plantlife, however, and leaves wild animals and even fish more skittish than usual.
-2 food harvested this year for all players.
Note: This functions as a -1 per plot, for the first two plots that give food. If someone had enough food stored to only need to work 1 square, they would only suffer -1. Similarly, someone with an abundant granary could live off their larder and see no penalty.

Era 1 cataclysm special: Every player will suffer 1 individual random event, one per turn. The first two players get a more mild -1 on the severity table, while the last two get +1, as they should be more built-up and better able to withstand it.
{2} - Criptfeind suffers first.

Error from last turn: Bonus labor is calculated after growth, but before military training. Those who trained units will have +1/10 bonus labor from last turn.

7 units of population are spread over tiles 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 (+12(10+2) food, +1 wood, +1 wool) [are hills supposed to give STONE? because its listed as giving WOOL, and I've got none of that supposedly.]
3 units of population build a military school. (2/2, 4/4!) a grand school is erected, where man fights man to pursue greater strength.
1 unit of population experiment with stabbing spare spears into the water. (research fishing)
1 unit of wrestlers is drafted.
+1 food for next turn as collateral loot from successful hunt. 13 food total, Famine averted

The Stonulus people were hardly surprised when the foul weather rolled in.  There were several times in living memory that far worse had occurred; most families personally knew someone hurt or killed in the Year of Hard Rain a generation ago.  Still, this would be a hard year in its own right.  The mushroom crop, insulated as it was, still suffered, and indeed would not be enough to cover for the failures above ground.  Even as the population grew, most of the extra hands would be set to agriculture.

Sageittarius knew this, and yet was disappointed.  Expansion and knowledge growth were something he dreamed of, yet the dream would be pushed back slightly.

{6} - Toaster suffers a disaster.
{6} - With the clouds of glowing fog gone, the famine is over. Perhaps the magic in the fog even helped: Farmers the world over report an unusually large harvest this year. +1 food for every player.

I don't really know how military deployment works either, so I might have to change up the turn :V
