Event Resolution

Event 1:

The new faces filling the big top fill the ranks with a sense of confidence. Competent generals, brilliant inventors, wielders of controversial powers, and even a princess will add their varied skills and new perspectives to the War Council. They greet the unfamiliar Generals with their own culture's brand of politeness, sit around and occasionally comment during the meeting, then return to the troops to perform various blessings, speeches, or to prepare equipment for the incoming battle.

Event 2:

You can tell at a glance that the other Generals have improved. This is perhaps most visible with Unity and their Rigging, but the other General's all have taken their specialized tactics to the next level or branched out into new fields. You can hear the cheers of Ted's men from their camp across the field. Everett's men haul messages across the ever growing camp with speed and efficiency. Artillery ammunition is brought into place by legions of Snow Minx. And it seems that restless ghosts now follow Grimtusk whispering indecipherable nonsense (which was considered distracting and promptly banished by Princess Hanako). By the end of the war those who survive will no doubt be legendary Generals who history will remember until the end of time.

Event 3:

Your mixed units begin integrating with your standard units, the officers working overtime to insure proper coordination with your main army. They seem to take to your weaponry easy enough, and as the soldiers are now used to working alongside foreigners it is expected that there will be no issues.

Event 4:

Thanks to a deal with Ted, Veikka Puomi will have the honor of guarding the Reporters during the upcoming battle. They number around twenty, representing press from various nations. They came equipped mostly with their culture's equivalent of a notebook and enough supplies to feed and house themselves, but little else. They greet Korpela and profusely thank him for allowing them the honer of observing the war on the front lines and bringing the story to the people back home.

Event 5:

Much effort is expended in finding a way to reproduce the pheromones produced by the bugs. In the end the most effective method was simply to pull an Invader corpse from the ever growing mountain the war has been generating and remove its pheromone glands, collecting whatever pheromones remain behind. This isn't exactly "reproducing" but can be done with little skill by logistics workers. The most efficient method discussed was to "milk" them by taking Invaders alive - a prospect made both viable and easy with the addition of Coulier into the army. A method to reproduce them approximately was also created, a process involving taking similar pheromones from giant ants or bees and treating them alchemically until they resemble the Invader pheromones. This process is most likely to produce a garbled signal until Coulier can confirm their similarities in an Invader body.

In any case you may in the future designate pheromone based equipment for your units/as a new unit. We still do not know what the signals mean but are capable of gathering all of them (unless some are produced by special units that we don't yet know of).

Deployment Phase 4

Battlefield 1:
You know the drill by now. Despite being slowed at every opportunity the main body now approaches the border of High Rus. Will our heroes manage to bypass the massive legion of Line Infantry and take out the enemy Artillery? Can we push back the tide? Find out on the next episode of Battlefield One! Expected battlefield is a large range including frozen forests, wide fields filled with plants that love the cold, villages, and occasionally snowy hills. Most of the enemy remains Line Infantry, with confirmed Anti Air Artillery. Other artillery support is likely.

Battlefield 2:
A second Invader stronghold has been created in Fairview after our unfortunate loss in the last battle. They are known to have taken over defensive positions, if they have received reinforcements dislodging them form the city will prove difficult and costly. We are expected to face harassment from Light Infantry on the way to the forest city, Light Infantry that is no doubt using the overly tall trees to give them high ground to glide from. Expected battlefield are forest and jungle, followed by improvised defenses and "urban" combat once those are bypassed. Expected enemies are Light Infantry, Line Infantry, Fly Riders, and any reinforcements provided by the enemy.

Battlefield 3:
Far to the East bordering 人外, the nation of Esther is facing a rebellion. Esther is a nation formed of anthropomorphic rabbits with a heavy handed government led by Wizards. This "Wizocracy" manipulates much of the population with magic to keep them in control of the magic users, going as far as to manipulate key population's memories and feelings about the government. Esther had joined the Grand Army and sent many of these Wizards to the front lines, loosening their grip on the population and causing Rebellion to explode. The leader of Esther insists that the Invaders are behind the rebellion and that this is actually part of the Grand Invasion. The political arm of the Grand Army is skeptical of these claims, but fears success of the revolution will spread to other nations who have devoted their entire armies to battles across the world if this is not stomped out quickly. How you handle it is up to you. Battlefields are likely rural towns and villages, carrice patties, and small rolling hills with animal pastures. Expected enemies are Esther Light Infantry fighting guerilla warfare.

Battlefield 4:
Perhaps learning to strike softer targets, the Invaders have set their sights in a stretch of desert bordering the Nawra Tribes. This stretch of desert is inhabited by Nomads who make their living by cargoing trade from one side of the desert to the other on great beasts of burden, a talent that has come in handy for the Grand Army's logistics. Because of this they have no capital to strike, but the citizens are by necessity often gathered around the singular great river that is likely to be their target. Expected battlefields are open desert and river combat. Enemy units are unknown.

Grimtusk reads the Battlefield 3 report, then reads it a second time. By the time he finishes reading the report he looks absolutely livid. "Esther had joined the Grand Army and sent many of these Wizards to the front lines!? Bullshit! As a general of the Grand Army I have access to all of the battlefield reports for each combat encounter that the Grand Army fought in, and I can say with certainty that we have no physical records of even a single Wizard of Esther having participated in any battlefield, let alone enough to compromise their national security! It seems to me that our political arm has either been compromised, or was completely inept to begin with!"

Battlefield 1
1 Undead Line Infantry will deploy to this region. They will follow the orders of any allied General if such orders are given. If they are not commanded, they will move into formation at a strategic place, ideally a hill with high cover available and open fire on the enemy forces to whittle away as many of their soldiers as possible.

If one or more generals intends to initiate combat in Battlefield 3: Half a unit of Light Infantry and Izag Bronzehammer will also deploy to this region, also will command the Undead Line Infantry if no other general does so. The Light Infantry will join Izag Bronzehammer on her airship and use advanced long-range firearms to thin out the enemy forces at an extreme range with little risk to their own personnel.

Battlefield 2
4 Light Infantry, 1 Dragoon, 2 Wizards, 1 Fairview Cuirassier and Grimtusk Bonegrinder himself will deploy to this battlefield.

Grimtusk's forces will advance on the City of Fairview, the Fairview Cuirassier will move at infantry pace until they reach fortified enemy positions. One wizard unit will cast a spell of clairvoyance on many members of the Light Infantry, who will spread out among the ranks. The clairvoyants will then be able to identify and alert the rest of the soldiers to enemy Fly Riders and Light Infantry lurking in the forst and gun them down before the enemy is able to respond effectively. The dragoons will be tasked will hunting down fleeing enemy units before they can report on our progress.

Being native to this region the Fairview Cuirassiers will already be well adapted to forested terrain. When the time comes to assault the enemy defenses, the second Wizard unit will cast a spell of Physical Empowerment on the Fairview Cuirassiers to bolster them even more. Without proper defensive walls any defensive line the enemy might have should crumble in no time.

All the while, Grimtusk Bonegrinder will be resurrecting whatever fallen units he can. He will make a point of traversing a part of the forest that had already seen combat before to have a new undead unit ready before the city assault.

Battlefield 3
If no other general chooses to initiate combat in Battlefield 3: Half a unit of Light Infantry and Izag Bronzehammer will deploy to this region. Their objective is not a military one, but rather to establish connections with the revolutionary forces. If the Esther military initiates combat then we will retreat, but if they are willing to talk we would like to discuss the possibility of supporting the Revolutionary forces in exchange for a promise for them to support the Grand Army.

The Wizocracy that they are rebelling against is making false claims of support to the Grand Army and sought to exploit us to deal with a domestic issue as opposed to a much more important battle, and Gobbleshire is not impressed with them.


Other
Grimtusk pens a letter to the Grand Army diplomatic branch, informing them to be more careful not to bring attention to any allies that Western Prince Ted Yamamoto might consider to be a 'Furry' in the future. Such reports should be marked classified and only delivered directly to the other Generals going forward.

"There is a lot going on with this war and we have been focused primarily on the major battlefields. Just because they haven't been mentioned in any of the reports of the large-scale battles doesn't mean they haven't been deployed. But even if they haven't been deployed yet you can't just pluck people from their peacetime roles and drop them directly into combat. You need time to train and to prepare. They could be still in training," he glanced over at Havourn "Would you fetch any documents you can get related to Esther wizards in the grand army?"

With a grunt and nod Havourn left to collect the paperwork leaving a trail of cigar smoke in his wake.

"Besides it doesn't matter if they have or not what matters is if people believe them and it is an easy claim to buy. Denying them will weaken the alliance even if they are lying," Everett continued "And openly offering support to rebels rebelling against our allies is a very quick route to us having no allies. I understand that you have moral objections to the way things are run there. But fixing that is not our job. Some of our allies may have moral objections to necromancy. Do you think we should listen to them? Every ally we could ever have have things some of our other allies feel should be changed or fixed. If we start intervening where do we stop? Who gets to decide what is acceptable and what isn't? Right now the grand alliance has a single cause; defeating the grand invasion. Almost everyone can get behind that, regardless of their ideology and past grudges. But if you start intervening like that then you are making it look like the grand alliance has another cause. One that is a lot less clear and not as easy to rally support for. I must strongly object to any talk of direct support of the rebels. The moment that leaked out, and it would, it would destroy us. We must appear neutral,"

He slid a letter over to Grimtusk. "I agree however that this is an issue that should be solved with words rather than violence. I feel we should act as mediators instead since we have been invited in. That letter should help get the government and the rebels sitting at the same table. It contains lies about my eagerness to get involved. It is a letter written by my own hand that paints me as the sort of person who would burn down the whole nation to wipe out a handful of rebels. It makes me seem like a vicious and rogue psychopath that is held in check by the cooler heads of the other generals of the grand army and it makes it seem like I am pushing heavily to be let off the leash in Esther. It'll help you force them to come to a comprise or to make them consider withdrawing their request for our assistance. Since the grand invasion is not enough of a threat; threaten them with me,"

Battlefield 4
Everett will deploy all his forces to battlefield 4. Deep strikes launched from a river have been Everett's typical form of battle for so long. The desert gives little in the way of concealment or cover. The great river could well be one of the few rivers wide enough for ships of the line to maneuver and deep enough for them to sail without much issue. Everett's 2 1/2 units of Terve winged hussars will serve as the core of a rapid reaction force. (Seems Stirk's not the only one who can be unclear with the way they talk about units :D). Light infantry will skirmish in an effort to draw enemy units to the river banks and to tie them down while there. Making them vulnerable to ship-of-the-line cannon fire. The field guns and anti air guns will stick close to the river making them easier to move.

Veikka taps the desk in contemplation "You all really don't give me many good options... heading toward Esther with the press would be a... PR nightmare to say the least! If I head to the Rus it will be anti-climatic at best and disastrous at worst especially if I bring the zealots... this leaves only Fairview and the Nawra desert both of which I think frankly are already covered quite well. Veikka continues tapping the desk for a couple more minutes before relaxing in his chair and sighing "Alrighty it seems this is what I shall have to do."

Battlefield 1: General Armas Korpela 1 Field Artillery, 2 Line Infantry, 1 Dragoon, 1 Grenadier "Harass! Harass! Harass! Make them pay for every single inch and continue to soften them as much as possible! Armas I trust your judgment on this make me proud."

Battlefield 3 If the Admirals plan dont work take 1 High Rus Line Infantry from Battlefield 4 and send them over otherwise I will ignore this one See no Evil Hear no Evil Speak no Evil.

Battlefield 4: Veikka Puomi 1 Field Artillery, 2 High Rus Line Infantry, 1 Reporter Attachment, 1 Ship of the Line "Well gentlemen while I expect this to be a cakewalk I shall try my best to give those reporters a real show! If they aint never seen artillery fire before they shall soon!"

"On my opinion of Esther its... complicated I have sympathy for the rebels for their cause is noble but sadly... now is simply not the right time for it. We are fighting an enemy that threatens to wipe us all out should we not stop them we can not afford dissent in our backlines to strain our resources! As such I advocate for pragmatism and not letting us be blinded by ideals and emotions. If we do not help put down the rebellion we at least should leave them to their fate rather than helping them outright. On the other hand the Admirals plan while ultimately a compromise is a decent enough one in my eyes."

The Fairview sorcerers will be mounted upon the rigging, channeling a cloaking spell across the length of the Unity. The Cuirassiers are designated to swoop in and catch any soft targets left out of position, alongside supporting Veikka's forces if needs be. Unity will be using their opportunity while unseen to drop a cloud of acidic smog directly on the anti-air, allowing them to sweep through the rest of the backline if unchecked.

Coulier and the Hussars under his command will follow Grimtusk's flanking force and deal with any Fly Riders flushed out of the trees, securing one for Hijacking upon battle's end.


"The Esther peoples leave us uneasy. Their means of control remind us of the worse days of the Nawra, and our position is too precarious to risk supporting the rebels in their cause. We believe their situation is best left alone."

"Even if Esther manages to resume their grasp over their subjects, or vis versa, we lose the trust of those who support us no matter whom we side with. Either we lose the trust of the people if we oppress the citizens, or lose the trust of our governmental backers if we aid the uprising. At least the hi-jackers never fucked up so badly they asked everybody to "Oh, please help us remove free will from these awful civilians.""

After having heard Ted's outburst, Grimtusk slides the letter back to Everett, as it has quickly become apparent that it shall not be necessary. "Okay fine! I admit it. You were right. There actually was a legitimate reason to withhold this information from us."

Ted also writes his own letter to high command, expressing his thanks for the exposure of a strategic weakness in the power of the furry menace, and insisting that any further such intelligence should be directed to him first and foremost, because furries are wreckers who would sell Earth out to the invaders in a heartbeat for nothing more than a pair of kawaii desu ears.

Everett didn't take the letter back, instead he stood up and walked around to where Ted was sitting. He grabbed the back of his chair with his one hand and violently slammed it to the ground. His eyes were so full of zeal they made the most fanatical High Rus look tame and quiet by comparison.
"So many wars drag on longer than they should. Eating and consuming lives and livelihoods as they go," his voice was far colder than normal, far more deliberately controlled "Sometimes it's because of honourable generals who let the enemy march out of besieged fortresses with their banners and weapons. Honour and sportsmanship meaning they never go for the jugular when they can. And then sometimes it's because of foolish, empty hatred. You can't reason with hatred. At least the bastards who treat war like a sport will still care for their country. They won't let it burn, they'll put aside their honour and sportsmanship to save it. But people like you they'll set the fires themselves. You will attack and genocide our ally with resources of the grand army? Our every ally will leave us and no one with a brain will ever consider joining us again. You'll destroy the alliance, burning it all down,"

"AND I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANYTHING OR ANYONE THAT MAKES THIS WAR LAST A DAY LONGER THAN IT NEEDS TO," his control slipped letting everyone have a glimpse at the unhinged man he really was. A glimpse that called into question what in that letter of his was actually lies. "Be that cowardly isolationist Terve council members or rogue genocidal princes! If you go this route prince I will kill you," he drew his saber to highlight his point "I will rip anything that gets in our way to shreds. If it will stop you from taking a course of action that will break up the alliance and doom us to death by the invasion I will gladly throw myself on that pyre,"

"I propose a new council vote to condemn Ted and his actions, to withdraw material and logistical support from Ted's forces until such time as they cease their attempts at genocide and to consider expelling 人外 from the grand army if they do not stop operations against Esther,"

Ted is, of course, already standing, because it would be highly inappropriate for a member of the Imperial Family to be seen seated on anything except dragonback.
With a hollow look, he listens patiently to the rant, then very quietly mutters "Kite, tore." and walks out.
