Su Lin looked after as the human child put on a speace suit and beamed down into the comet moon once more. He didn't exactly get what he was doing, but he figured that he should just let the youngster be.
In his free time, he decided to try and learn more of the workings of
Ornos.
He quietly mediated on the beetles divine presence, trying to conjure up the abilities that the music god had in its voice.
But after a few tries of trying to attune his mana and voice into a new blessing, he soon realised that
Ornos couldn't grant what he already has. He remembered that small increase in his magical capacity when he first bonded with
Ornos.
That was the beetles blessing.
The god was a mere shell of its former self, with his once glorious harmonies turned into a small lullaby. And no amount of belief from a single person could ever change that. Even zealous belief from six people would change very, very little.
Beings like
Ornos came into being with the belief power of entire tribes, usually first appearing as a distinct enough regional form or aspect of a pre-existing mortal god, and then slowly iterating on themselves and turning into their own person throught decades, centuries and millenia.
Ornos was what he was, so to speak.
His attempts at singing however, seemed to have pleased
Ornos. The beetle whistled a few short tunes, expressing contentment.
Hey, Lemmy was back- Nevermind...
Back at the obelisk, Lemmy tried to conduct his experiment again. This time though, instead of just absorbing the mana, he tried to have it go through him. So he took a shard of ice, touched it to the obelisk. Mana flowed into the shard, and then moved to him.

He burst up in flames. He respawned and worked his mind over what he learned.
And then he tried the same thing again.
Lemmy tries to use ice shard to get mana from theobelisk (15<): 7
And he tried again!
Lemmy tries to use ice shard to get mana from theobelisk (15<): 12
AND AGAIN!!!
Lemmy tries to use ice shard to get mana from theobelisk (15<): 15
Fifth time was the charm. Sort of.
Lemmy tried to stay calm as possible as the mana inside the ice shard moved into his body, despite him trying to have it pass through. For a moment, he could feel the power coursing through him, and the next thing he knew, he was back at the ship. He was so close! He could almost taste the mana back there. It tasted like a lethal dose of gamma radiation, in case you were curious.
So he put on a suit and went down. What greeted him was a large hole in the ground where he once stood, with cracks propagating from its edges.
He looked at the obelisk, and saw that the explosion had created a little shard broken off it. With a little looking around, he found that shard. It's insides looked just like its outsides, but he could feel a small tingly feeling coming from it, not unlike what he felt when the mana was in him.
Maybe this tiny mana maker could be of use? He figured that others would want to get on with the journey, so he left the dungeon and made his way to the ship before they left without him.
While Lemmy was repeatedly going down there still doing amateur science and getting repeatedly turned into piles of ash, Burt was busy looking through the ship. And he was positively fuming.
It didn't made sense. It just didn't. What were these fucking boxes even
for if they didn't have anything inside?
Why there was an unreasonable abundance of chairs and not a single instance of anything else. Hell, when he tried to get this ships name and registry, the ship didn't respond, and ignored him. What in the fuck is going on?!
The statue giggled. Burt screamed.
"Alright so, in short, the obelisks are essentially divine totem type objects that work through make believe magic, or power of belief. They have no underlying, physical mechanisms, but instead are completely "noospherical", with whatever ways of working they have up there. I have absolutely no knowledge on any detailed noosphere stuff. So I will need to see what I can further learn from them. A sample to inspect would be nice."
Velklin closed his small journal/notebook/diary thingie and unsummoned it away.
His giddiness went away, and his eyes began to wander. They landed on Su Lin and his bulging muscles. Velklin felt shame when he looked at his own noodle arms. He saw that he was
soy weak and Lin was
chad strong. That guy could lift up a boulder, while Velklin would probably be crushed under the weight of a particularly large leaf.
He realised that he wanted to be strong like him. Not muscle wise, though. He was demigod, for his fathers sake! Workout? Hitting gyms?! Did he looked like some simpering mortal?
Yeah. That's what he thought.
He thought that maybe, he could use telekinesis to assist his punches. So he decided to hit a cardboard box, and while he was punching, to use telekinesis to accelerate his fist.
He ends up with a detached shoulder instead. His arm was suddenly pulled into a direction that it was already flexed towards. If he wasn't semi-divinity, he could have lost an arm, or even torn in half.
At least he now knows why telekinesis, flight and levitation were three very distinct spells.
Then
Geshemblos walked in on him clutching his shoulder in pain. The skink god concentrated real hard onto a small patch of nothing. It wasn't really nothing though. There was air. A ball of very dense air formed, looking like a blurry circle in the deer kids vision, which then suddenly jerked into movement, hitting his shoulder with a precise strike. The shoulder cracked again, and he realised that
Geshemblos had healed him, in his own weird intuitive way.
And he used telekinesis, too. Well, that sure was a thing to write down on his journal/notebook/diary.
Isabam felt inspired by how Su Lin's training regimen improved his strength. She decided to do it as well.
Isabam Butsha's workout successes (>12): 3, 11, 19
She was a techno-organic being, so her body could still adapt and modify. She felt a slight change, the nanite foam inside her working to add more strength to her cybermuscles, oiling them as they print new fibers to add.
Eleazar jolted awake. He immideately noticed that he had been drooling. He felt confused. And hurt. Ow. He remembered fighting, then stealing the glass lizard thing... Then his memory went blank. And then he was back at the ship. He nudged and prodded into his mind, seeing nothing out of the ordinary. He noted how strange this was. He didn't understand what caused his freeze up. It wasn't internal, as far as he knew.
Best thing he could do was to chalk it up to an unknown external or transcendental force.
Speaking of force, he could practice now that he was back into his mind. Maybe if he had more ability on magic, he would be answer the freeze problem. More magic meant more control over mind and body, after all.
Eleazar practices magic (>13): 15 (Minor Improvement)
He figures out how to enhance his ability to hit critically, though it still takes all of his mana like the rest of his spells. His mana reserves, however, do not increase. He doesn't feels particularly glad about this new spell. It just doesn't seem all that powerful to him.
His attention falls to the ship control system, where a new destination is marked for them.
Displaying: Heyam 72 System Chart
He checks the map to see Heyam 72-e as marked, with an embedded message on the pinpoint marker.
"
The fortress you seek resides at the furthest world of this system. Seek the highest mountain at its roof."
Roof? Is this fortress on top of a building? That didn't made any sense.
At least they were good to go; the marked planet really was the furthest world here. He tried sourcing some more navigation data on where this fort may be, but it didn't say anything else.
They would all need flashlights for this.
