As soon as the four new skinks spawn in, the chaos comes back with them.

Lemmy tries to empty his mid again, to maybe trick this Geshemblos entity into thinking that they disappeared. But then he remembers that for this plan to work, Burt needs to achieve zen too.

Code: [Select]
Lemmy tries calming himself down: ☼20☼
Lemmy gets Burt to calm himself too: 17

"Burt, you need to do what I am doing, right now."

Lemmy lets out a breath and closes his eyes shut. Burt follows. The skinks stop, confused. They can't see. They can't hear. For they are made of ice. But they can sense. And they sense nothing.

Burt then kneels and reaches out to touch one of the ice creatures.

Code: [Select]
Burt grabs a Soldier of Geshemblos: 16
He feels smooth cold ice on his hand. Then he pets it a bit.

Code: [Select]
Burt tries taming a Soldier of Geshemblos: 11
The skink who was lightly touch stops moving right then. They both open their eyes to see all the skinks just look at him. Not seeing him, but sensing him. Sensing something that he can't quite understand.

Then they all crumble to shards in perfect unison. Is this a form of surrender? No.

Finally, they hear a voice. coming from the corridor opposite to the entrance, which is blocked by a door. They hear Geshemblos speak into their minds.

"LEAVELEAVELEAVE. LEAVE. LEAVE NOW!"

You all know you can't fullfill this request. So you continue.

Lemmy, seeing that the middle path is blocked, turns to the left. Burt takes a right. And behind them in the first room, the ground rumbles and shifts in eight separate spots. An even larger wave is coming.

Code: [Select]
Su Lin orders Ornos to cast Soothing Song: 16
From far away, Ornos takes a command. He plays his song, a chaotic mess of musical sounds, mostly wind instruments. The singing does nothing at first glance, but the shifting on the ground is slowed down considerably, and somehow creating two more of the spots. The emergence of the soldiers is postponed for a bit, giving you thinking time to prepare.

Lemmy and Burt both see an ice lever in the middle of the rooms they are now in. They both pull them, almost in unison. They hear two soft clicks, from the entrance room, and the door. To Lemmy's right and Burt's left, there are singular passages. And they can each see one more lever, at the far end of those passages. They just need to get to those too.

At the ship, which was moving to the entrance of the dungeon, Isabam and Velklin were preparing for battle

Velklin conjures a quad of Small Crystallines, and as soon as the ship stops at the dungeon entrance, he beams down with his small army, using his telekinesis to accelerate all five of them down as fast as possible, and to stop them from hitting the floor. He uses up 5 Mana while he does this, leaving him with only five.

Velklin and his minions quickly enter the comet dungeon. They see the ten swirling masses of impossibly fluid ice and the god of song flying and singing on top of them. Veklin is confused. Where was the battle?

Isabam, meanwhile had decided to stay back, listening to Su Lin about how all their problems would just magically solve themselves if they just believed. Literally. She checked her pipe, her space suit, verified her combat readiness with care, and found herself perfectly ready. Only thing to do now was descending down to beat up some ice lizards.

Su Lin may be pulling it with the belief thing, but again, his entire magic system is built on belief in oneself. So, can you blame 'em? And it works too. It is real. I mean, just look at him.

And you know what would be nice? More of that good stuff. Su Lin, after getting ignored, decides that he needs no beetle god . He has himself, and his Qi, and his muscles.

He concentrates into his soul to maybe gain more insight into its fractal nature. To have more space to store his Qi.

Code: [Select]
Su Lin cycles his Qi to improve his Mana stat: 1
oh my goodness

And suddenly, explosion. He does it all wrong. He looks into his souls infinite, fractal nature and gets caught in a loop. The loop accelerates expotentially, and eventually his Qi increases so far up that explodes in a giant expulsion of life essence, dying instantly.

The ship 3-D prints him back with absolutely no consequences, with the memories and clothes and all. Now he is forever stuck with the paranoia of "Is this the real me or a copy?", where he isn't sure if a perfect copy of a person is that person.

There are nine rooms. Arranged in a square. The center room only has one sealed door to the entrance room and the other seven rooms form a half ring around it. Two more levers to be pulled for the door to open to the center room, where the obelisk is.

You know what to do.

Velklin
:■■ ▪▪▪▪▪ ▪▪▪▪▪
: ▪▪▪▪▪ ▫▫▫▫▫ □□□□

Cowering behind his squad of crystalline golems, Velklin looks at the forming threats with evident trepidation - a wide-legged, shaky stance with knees practically facing each other.
He puts a finger to his ear, in order to request aid over radio, "G-guys? I--i think i need some help here! There's so many of them! Burt? Lemmy? Where are you guys? Isabsam? Mr. Lin? A-are you coming down here?"
Seeing that he is outnumbered, and realizing that help, if any is coming, will not reach him in time, decides to run to save his strength and his minions. Looking at Ornos, whose song is quickly growing quieter by the second, Velkin is scared that any enemies might be a threat to Ornos as much as they are to himself. So he intends to grab Ornos and then pick a random tunnel and run, with Ornos in his hands and his four Crystalline golems in tow. Hopefully linking up with one of the two who went ahead of him. Preferably Burt.

Action Recap
Action 1: Grab Ornos
Action 2: Run into a random open tunnel. Order minions to follow.
Combat Strategy: Flee. Do not engage in combat.

Squad:
  • 4 Crystalline Golems. (Stats unknown.)

(I think it's safe to add Telekinesis to my list of spells now.)

Su Lin
'Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but copies will always fall short of the original.'

So that happened. Fortunately the ship's resurrection device works as well as was advertised.

Su Lin considers what happened. Contrary to the narrator's claim, Su Lin is aware of the fact that anything with an infinite complexity would take an infinite amount of time to create; which means that the ship did not 3-D print his soul. This in turn means the fact that Su Lin still has the same connection to Ornos is proof that he is still the same person because if there were two Su Lins with the same mind at any given time then Ornos would have visibly changed due to having twice the belief, and if Su Lin ceased to be then so too would Ornos as Su Lin is their only believer. That that Narrator!

These revelations could enable Su Lin to take more more risks then he otherwise would dare; but Su Lin decided that he should no longer attempt to advance his cultivation on the ship. If Su Lin was more powerful at the time that he exploded, he might have compromised the ship's integrity and his current form of immortality requires the ship to be in one piece.

Su Lin also considers something. If the ship is able to 3-D print things like clothing, then would it also be capable of printing things like a space suit?

Action 1: Su Lin resolves the paranoia thing through the use of logic.
Action 2: Su Lin goes to clean up any mess that he made upon exploding.
Action 3: Su Lin does a diagnostic on the ship to see what, if anything, was damaged by the explosion.

"How does keeping my mind clear keep them from seeing us anyway?"
Keep doing that mind clearing thing that Lemmy showed me while I run for the next lever and pull it.

Skinks are made of ice. They don't have eyes or ears or nostrils or skin. They sense presences instead via magic of their creator. If you keep your mind clear, they wont sense you.

"They're seeing with their minds.  Some kinda telepathy thing.
If you're a zero, they can't see you."

Pull the last lever, while I'm 'invisible'.
Run to the middle and hit the final obelisk.
Retreat back to the ship.

(Velklin being a big ol' ball of nerves and adrenaline kinda throws a wrench in the whole 'stealth' plan then. He has no idea about any of this or even about the existence of Geshemblos - No one's told him - and he's heading your way. One of you two, anyway.)

That's fine.  Means Velklin can do the fighting while we hit the goal.  If we're all invisible, it probably won't work.  If some of us are visible, than the enemy has a target.

(You wish. :P Velklin ain't fightin' nothing alone, especially without Mana. Naw, he's just gonna hide behind Lemmy, or Burt and use them as his shield - whichever he happens to find. Good luck keeping your mind blank while you've got a shaking Velklin clinging onto you. :))

I presume Magma is gonna flip a coin to determine which tunnel Velklin runs down, or something.)

(Dunno. Guess we'll see what happens when the next update rolls around. This one's is pretty exciting. Just need Funk now, since i think we can pretty safely discount Blackpaladin.)
