Everyone got purged from the Bug Tracker

WHY

I mean, seriously! You can't make a new account, and you can't sign in if you're not one of ten guys!

It's weird!

As the message in a huge font says: Send an email to report a bug.

Makes far more sense than having the bug tracker volunteers work through the tracker marking 99% of it "Resolved - Duplicate" as they were doing previously.

Besides, as Toady explained, the reason was Mantis. They don't allow hundred of accounts in the latest version (inexplicably enough).

Dang.

Who do I email, then?

That seems like a lot of extra work on Tarn's shoulders.

How so? Previously people uploaded bugs, the volunteer team would check them, and Toady would get round to fixing them eventually.  Sometimes checking code to Acknowledge bugs.

Now, you send an email, the volunteer team check them, upload them to the tracker (if they are actual new bugs), and Toady or Putman get round to fixing them eventually. Sometimes checking code to Acknowledge bugs.

So, actually a bit easier for Toady than before.

Accounts on the new MANTIS are apparently very expensive. It's for programming teams, not communities, so they figure if you want 900 accounts you're probably Microsoft, so you can afford it.

I'm in the bug tracker Discord for weird historical reasons, and Tarn seems pretty happy with it so far.

I really liked roporting bugs, looking if no one else reported it, uploading saves etc

its that feeling "im helping!"

well new times demand new bug reporting tools I guess

You can volunteer to still do that: https://old.reddit.com/r/dwarffortress/comments/102kljr/want_to_help_wrangle_dwarf_fortress_bugs/
You don't need to volunteer to add bugs to the bug tracker, you simply follow the instructions and send your bug by email. Uploading your save to DFFD as we always have done.
