I've seen this "Oh no! Jobs are going away forever!!!" thing many times, and it's always turned out to be nonsense. This will go the same way these things always do.

I seen similar jokes in the prelude to Russian invasion, they didn't age well. Not sure what is your point but I think that people failing to prepare, are preparing to fail.

In reality, what people call "AI" isn't much different from the Norton Bomb sight in WWII. A bunch of formulas (now code) in a machine that does a task.

Humans have the advantages of greater programmability and mobility.

AI will likely muscle in on the industry and reduce the niche but for the foreseeable future you'll still need to guide it and possibly manually draw scenes that AI can't do for whatever reason (most likely a dataset blind spot).

As for Art, I assume that human artist will still edit the AI creations to make them acceptable to human audiences.

True artists work with all sorts of tools, and I imagine some are quite excited to use AI to supplement their creativity.

Artisans however have always fought the machines, back to the first factories.  For good reason. 
Some survive, however, and some eventually are empowered by the machines.

I still think people who are relying on AI for their art are talent less hacks that lack any real talent.

I don't try to pass it off as something I drew, I just want on-demand art for visualization or more saucy purposes. I don't want to learn to draw or dig through the web to try and find exactly what I want.

In term of AI generating art, the human isn't an artist but the art director that is leading an artist that has no inspiration or will of its own (the AI).
The artist in that case is the AI.

Similarly in movie, the director is not an actor, but will lead the actors to make their play, though unlike AI at least actors are able to have inspiration and will of their own (usually )

I doubt the text is AI generated, but this is a nice example why I don't agree. When a single person can do one thing really well, AI enhancements allow them to compete for the main stage. This would be boring as transcript, this would be unachievable if it took the author 3 parodists to enact his vision. For what, 500 views? Man it would be even funnier if you had some gimmicky lip movement, like annoying orange but AI generated whackyness.


And talent's not a great measure I think... Talent is more like a coefficient that applies to the total amount of work required. So if "I want to it to require real human work" is an important factor, it's a bit like you'd respect the least talented artists the most because they put in more effort for a similar result.


For me long term, if I could entertain myself by having a few systems work against or with eachother to create free content to myself, I'm not sure I'd bother with it in the marketplace, I'd most likely just hedonistically indulge in it.

Well yeah.
Most of the practical uses for AI have been in the realm of propaganda and mis-information.

It would just depend upon the corpus being used. I think, based only on what I've seen in passing, that this sort of territory is already being investigated and exploited. And I've not been specifically looking. But I could probably go and find an example right now (if not blacklisted behind the content filter I don't think I've ever seen need to remove from this current service I'm currently on) if I were so inclined. (Also it could probably push the boundaries of Bay12 Ts&Cs, or at least Tarn's good-will and patience.)

That's if I understand the original suggestion and your own interpretation of that suggestion. Otherwise, I'm clearly talking of a different slant of kink. But that's just demonstrating the truth of Rule 34, or some corollary of it.

Given the right inputs and feed data, the only thing AI can't do is draw pictures of people eating noodles with chopsticks
