Barely avoiding a sword swing to his neck, Bromveer ducked and drove
his saber through the villain’s gut.  The villagers of Ostlan burst
into cheers.  The goblin Uslok was dead, struck down in a duel no
less.  It was a great day.  The people lifted Bromveer on their
shoulders and carried him to the mead hall.

There was a mighty celebration that day.  The king had a great bull
slaughtered.  Dancers were brought up from the city.  No expense was
spared.  As the night wore on, the king found Bromveer lingering in a
corner.

“You look in need of companionship,” said the king.

“It’s not that,” said the hero.

“What could possibly trouble you?” asked the king.

“I had a dream I would die today,” said Bromveer.  “Now that the day
has passed I fear something worse is in store.”
