Doesn't care about anything anymore
« on: January 04, 2023, 04:34:42 pm »

Is it just me, or is this trait now super easy to develop?
I am in summer year 2 after embark, and all dwarves and residents already have the trait.

All they got to see was maybe 3 dead troglodytes, a dead cave crocodile and 2 dead cave toads. The troglodyte skeletons have been lying in my tavern and temple for years though, nobody seems to want to haul them to the refuse stockpile.

This is one of the stress tweaks of 0.47.05 and I believe it is even faster if the body is split into multiple pieces of gore.

Stockpiles seem to be quirky regarding corpses, since there's both a full-blown corpse stockpile *and* a corpse category for refuse stockpiles.

If that fails, you can also mark them for dumping under an Atom Smasher.

It is hilarious. A new arrival goes from zero to 'getting used to tragedy' by just walking past a heap of bones from a single dead trog.
I guess it does deal with stress issues haha.

But doesn't the doesn't care tag also prevent a lot of happy thoughts?

They still get happy thoughts from things, iirc. They just don't care about bodies anymore. Even when they're the bodies of their spouse/children/best friend.

Personally, not a big fan of that change. The other stress fixes (like rain) were good though.

The Refuse/Corpse and Corpse stockpiles are mutually exclusive in what they accept... the Corpse stockpiles accept sentient/non-butcherable corpses, and the Refuse/Corpse stockpile accepts anything else. I have FB corpses that the dwarfs aren't moving but everything else is moved to one of those stockpiles.

People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

Turns out my corpse stockpile was full.

I heard it also causes alcoholism, which flies completely under the radar for dwarves.

This "doesn't care about anything anymore" isn't as powerful as the one before changes, AFAIK. They still can be mental trainwrecks because of other reasons, it's just that the corpses and body parts aren't as scary as they used to be.

Especially monster hunters seem very hard to keep happy. They always slowly crawl down to redface unhappy for me.
