Detection is done, Roe. The closest, middle and furthest targets are approximately 100.700.000, 175.700.000 and 211.800.000 kilometers away, respectively. The second target is a gas giant, and first target has a sattelite.
...
Great. You do that, and I shall launch- Did you just call me "Roe"?

...The system has 6 planets. The closest ones are the first three of them.
Anyways, I will be launching a drone too, to see if we can assess the damage to the ship by looking at it from the outside.
...
On the count of three.
One,
Two,
Three,
LAUNCH!

...
Drone 112 has been successfully ejected...
Drone 007 has been successfully ejected...
Drone 034 has been successfully ejected...
Drone 078 has been successfully ejected...
...
We are missing half of the main thrusters, 40% of our outer hull, and the entire rear bridge, but secondary thrusters and the landing mechanisms are mostly undamaged. There is a large gaping cavity where the quarters should be, front command center is completely disfigured and several torpedoes seem to be still inside the ship, judging by the holes they left and the lack of large internal damage around their trajectory.
That is quite alot. How is this ship still running?
With a miracle, I suppose. Wouldn't be here if it didn't.
...
Drone 078 has returned to the hangars.
...
Drone 112 has returned to the hangars.
...
Drone 007 has returned to the hangars.
...
Drone 034 has returned to the hangars.
...
Todd, wake up. Drones have arrived to their destinations.
Great news. What are the parameters?
The first planet is unsuitable. It is a Mercurian world with a similarly hot moon. Hot enough to melt lead. Our heat shields are incapacitated.
...
The second planet is a moonless hot jupiter. Unsuitable.
...
The third planet is a similar to the first one. Just less hot. Mostly unsuitable.

I suggest we fire the engines move further out for the other three planets.

There may be better planets to find out there. Or you can settle for what you already know.

Here is the Dayu Star System.

The red star is the ship. You can figure out the rest.

What do you do?

Let's drone the other three planets!

Beeeep. Warning, risk of drone loss.
Risk: acceptable. Risk for proceeding without scout data: unacceptable.

Narrow in risk fractal to embedded torpedoes. Assess danger level to operations.

(Dang this took off faster than I expected sorry about people waiting on me.)

Run a diagnostic scan of all major ship systems.

(It's nothing at all. If anything, it only enhances the humor with everyone constantly pinging Engineering :P)

Don't forget to test-fire the engines! We need to make sure they're working If we wanna set out for adventure and excitement!
Pre-plot a course to the outer three planets.

Excellent. Roe, wake up!
You just called me "Roe" again.
Consider it payback for calling me "Todd". Anyways, the drones I sent to the three outer planets have arrived.
What are the parameters?
The first body is a small, geologically dead, icy dwarf planet. Nothing of use there.

Second outermost planet is a promising landing site. An average-sized, dry, barely habitable world mostly covered in cold deserts and icecaps, with an also average-sized barren moon.

The third is a moonless ice giant.
...

Looks like we have a target. Not that there are better choices. I'll triangulate a path for the ship to accelerate, using gravitational sensors and the navigation log data from the drones we launched. I suspect we will be there in a month of travel. But now, let's test if we can get there by conventional means.

There are two more torpedoes lodged into the ship. You can either take the risk and move to the target planet Dayu-e anyways, or not.

. . .

ROE to all.
Sorry about the unintentional detonation during the engine test, that was my fault. The good news is that the engines work and the ship can move! Aside from the other two armed torpedoes still lodged in our hull, this is so exciting! We can finally go somewhere new! But before we do that, i would recommend disabling or disposing of those torpedoes. Perhaps somebody could pilot one of the repair drones for the purpose? I don't feel myself qualified to do bomb disposal. Maybe Engineer or Warner?

Meanwhile, i'll do some tidying up of the computer systems. Maybe i can squeeze out some extra headroom for us.

Send matter harvesters to dismantle the torpedoes.

Risk factors unknown.
Query: Fuck off and let a professional work?

Enable repair bot manastream mode. Assess(). Begin contact-free risk-minimizing flow routine. Request schematics for enemy munition from munition routine. Assessment focus: "Which wire do I cut?"

Maybe we have different ideas about what "matter harvesters" means. If there's some likelihood that doing that will set them off, then don't do it.
My mental image was of something more along "grey-goo" lines that would just efficiently break them down into constituent atoms.

Matter harvesters are these large drones that take in large amounts of random matter and and output pure, ready-to-use forms.

Then the 3-D printers print spare parts. And then the Repair Drones mount those parts.

This can also be used to print and assemble anything, but what matters now is ship repairs.

Yeah I figured they would be more like big mining drones than grey goo. Not something we want to use for fine detailed work inside our own body, maybe? :v

Even if it were grey goo sending it to defuse a bomb isn't necessarily risk free. What if it starts eating in the wrong place? We need to run a proper analysis first.

Scan the hold and see how much matter for repairs is available, then scan the rest of the ship for any objects that are not mission critical that could be broken down into matter usable for repairs.
