I have a question about improving my "Fish Prison" because I am in a climate that freezes from mid-Autumn to mid-Spring. This of course means that the Floor Grate pops off twice a year at thaw and freeze.

To maintain all year security I am considering Channelling then Walling down to the floor of the Brook.

If I cut off a small bit of the Brook from the edge of the map, will the Fishing Zone still consider its access to fish as unlimited or will it run out like the Ponds do?

In the non-Steam version, if you completely separate an area of water from its source (in this case the edge of the map where the river starts), then you'll no longer be able to catch fish in it. Odds are good this has not changed.

For all-year security, you could try a variant. You would build a new fishing shack over the ground but adjacent to the river's surface, ensure it is roofed, then dig out a room below the shelter. While the river is frozen, dig out the lower room's wall adjacent to the river's ice, build a raising gate, and connect it to a lever before the river thaws. That gate can control whether water (and fish) can enter that room, allowing you to close it if scary things get into the river.

Thank you - that makes sense. Cutting off access to the outside tiles would sensibly cut off access to renewing fish resources.
